    SALARY
    Substitutes with a valid Indiana Substitute Permit: $120.00/day
    Substitutes with a valid Indiana Teaching License: $125.00/day
    Substitutes with a valid Indiana Teaching License appointed for full semester will receive years of service on teacher placement schedule.

    POSITION OVERVIEW
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to instruct students and facilitate their learning in accordance with corporation policies and state guidelines. Guides students in educational activities designed to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth. Teaches the essential skills that will contribute to students’ development as educated and responsible adults.
    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
    An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Relieves classroom teachers for planning or preparing lessons
    • Relieves classroom teachers for larger groups to experience new learning together either in clusters or power plans
    • Monitors IXL Remediation period for selected students
    • Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
    • Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
    • Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
    • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
    • Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
    • Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
    • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
    • Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
    • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
    Must have a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    None required.
    APPLICATION PROCESS (Applicants cannot progress to the next step until all items listed under the prior step are completed.)
    Application and REQUIRED Supporting Documents
    Provide a complete online application.
    Upload copies of official transcripts verifying at least 60 hours of college coursework into application or provide hard copy.
    Submit email addresses for a minimum of three professional references. Three survey responses must be returned to proceed with hire.
    Upload copy of a valid Indiana teaching license or Indiana substitute teacher permit if it has already been obtained. Those that do not have one will be prompted to obtain it later in the process.
    National Background Check
    After completing all the steps in Step 1, you will be contacted by email and provided instructions on requesting the required online background check from our provider, MBI. You will be responsible for the fee ($27.75), payable online with a personal credit or debit card.
    Indiana Teaching License or Indiana Substitute Permit
    A valid Indiana teaching license or Indiana substitute permit is required to work as a substitute teacher in Indiana. If you do not hold an active Indiana teaching license, you will apply to the Indiana Department of Education for a substitute teacher permit through EVSC. You will be provided with the instructions for applying for the permit thru email after approval of your national background check. You will be responsible for the fee ($16.32), payable online with a personal credit or debit card.
    Mandatory Orientation
    After all the above steps have been completed, a final email will be sent to you requesting that you attend the next scheduled orientation. Orientation sessions are held every other week. You will be required to attend an orientation prior to accepting any assignments.
