Job Title: Facilities Coordinator

Department: Facilities 

Reports To: Facilities Director

Classification: Non-exempt, Full time 

Work Schedule: This will be a Wednesday through Sunday position after training is complete, with Mondays and Tuesdays off.

Position Summary 

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Facilities Coordinator at the Eugene Family YMCA intentionally foster a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also serving as a critical support for the Facilities Director, YMCA staff, and YMCA members.

Essential Functions 

  • Assist with day-to-day maintenance of the facility, including laundry and basic maintenance on all laundry machines; ensuring all areas of the Y are supplied and refilled (soap/shower dispensers, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.); and the facility is always clean (pick up debris/trash from facilities and parking areas, clean locker rooms, etc. 

  • Assist the Facilities Director with preventative maintenance around the facility. 

  • Assist and respond to facility help tickets. 

  • Provide reports/feedback to Facilities Director on all maintenance repairs & facilities conditions. 

  • Assist and perform cleaning hot-tub, cleaning and replacing pool strainer baskets, monitoring & adjusting pool/spa chemical levels. 

  • Run frequent bump cycles for pool filters. 

  • Backwash spray pad & hot tub. 

  • Monitor chlorinator feeders & add tablets to feeders as needed. 

  • Monitor pool mechanical room & systems daily. 

  • Assist & perform general carpentry repairs when needed. 

  • Assist & perform light duty plumbing support. 

  • Provide maintenance support to Y staff to ensure an optimal work environment. 

  • Assist & communicate with vendors/subcontractors when needed. 

  • Assist with event set-ups & take-downs when needed. 

  • May provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather; this position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times. 

  • Drive to various suppliers to pick up items on occasion. 

  • Must maintain a current, valid Oregon driver’s license, a DMV driving record that meets YMCA standards, and evidence of insurability throughout entire term of employment 

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • Previous experience in construction, a construction trade or facility maintenance 

  • Must obtain a Certified Pool Operator's license within 90 days of hire 

  • Experience with standard business software and office machines. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Associate degree or certification in related field 

  • Two or more years' experience in construction or trades-related work experience 

  • Understanding of basic construction/mechanical concepts 

  • Conversational fluency in Spanish

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use tools and various pieces of equipment. 

  • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment. 

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust. 

  • This position occasionally requires the use of eye protection while working. 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional exposure to high levels of noise that require the use of ear protection. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to elevated risks associated with hazards, chemicals, heights, confined spaces, temperature variations, loud noises. 

  • Focus on safety is essential and constantly important. 

  • The work schedule is such that most work must be done Monday through Friday during traditional business hours. However, occasionally you might need to provide support for weekend or evening duties as needed.
