Job Description

Pender Veterinary Centre-Chantilly in Chantilly, VA is searching for Managing Veterinarian to join their team!

**Up to a $20k Sign-On Bonus, 4 Day Work Week, No Nights/Holidays, Leadership Bonuses, CE Allowance**

For more than 50 years, Pender Veterinary Centre has been a place where pet owners bring their beloved animal friends to receive care from an established team of passionate, experienced veterinarians. Pender Vet’s Chantilly hospital offers general practice medicine in tandem with Pender’s Fairfax hospital which includes emergency and exotics departments as well. The Chantilly campus includes a state-of-the-art boarding and day care facility, as well as an on-site aftercare facility.

Work-Life Balance

To promote a healthy work-life balance, we offer a 4-day work week for our managing doctors, remote options when applicable, and flexible scheduling including no nights/overnights or holidays. Responsibilities

  • Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors while ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication/education
  • Responsible for the financial performance of the hospital including revenue and hospital contribution growth as well as managing all hospital expenses
  • Sees wellness and sick appointments, performs physical examinations, and conducts diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures
  • Monitors DVM performance, production, and assures current licensure of all DVMs
  • Educated on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine
  • Trains all medical staff, including the mentoring of new graduates
  • Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records/logs
  • Participates in recruiting and interviewing DVMs and general staff members
  • Maintains and improves medical standards, quality of care, and hospital compliance

The Managing Veterinarian partners with the Hospital Manager in the development and delivery of staff training programs, employee hiring/termination, resolving staff concerns, driving community involvement, participating in technician appraisal and counseling sessions, and promoting growth and innovation of the practice. The MDVM also prepares an annual planning matrix, operating budget, and capital budget with support from the hospital team and Divisional Leadership.


Skills and Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate must be a graduate from an AVMA accredited college or have successfully passed the ECFVG certification program or the PAVE certification program.
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed.
