Job Description

Vero Beach Veterinary Hospital is growing! We are looking for an experienced veterinarian to join our skilled and passionate team!

Our small animal 2 doctor practice is in a lovely, affluent, beach town community. Our Managing Veterinarian, Dr. Schwartz earned his Veterinary degree from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He received special training in ultrasound and cardiology. His special interests include internal medicine, cardiology, and behavior. Working alongside Dr. Schwartz is Dr. Nazareth. Dr. Nazareth received his veterinary degree from the University of Liverpool in England. He has expertise in soft tissue surgery including spay, neuter, pyometra, C-section, foreign body (gastrotomy/enterotomy), cystotomy, splenectomy, and orthopedics. He is also certified in acupuncture and enjoys incorporating holistic care.

Our hospital provides an easy-going and laid-back work environment with a very friendly and welcoming staff. We maintain a great team culture and host annual summer and winter team bonding events! We are dedicated to the growth and well-being of our community and our loyal clientele. Over the years we have assisted many shelters and rescue organizations by treating and healing pets in need of surgery and medical care.

    Responsibilities:

    The Medical Director is responsible for providing medical leadership for the hospital, managing associate veterinarians, and assuring regulatory compliance. The Medical Director is also responsible for creating an environment of teamwork in which quality medicine is delivered.

    In partnership with the Hospital Manager, the Medical Director is responsible for the financial performance of the hospital, preparing operating and capital budgets, and meeting budget expectations. In addition, the Hospital Manager and Medical Director are responsible for directing staff and the overall management of the practice, under the direction of NVA Divisional Leadership.


    Qualifications:

    • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
    • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state in which applicant is to be employed
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
    • The ability to delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members
    • Capable of quality decision making
    • The ability to coach, correct, develop, and motivate employees
    • Demonstrates excellent time and task management
    • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients
