Ethisphere is Hiring a Remote Data Architect

Ethisphere is looking for a Data Architect to join our Product Technology team. This is a highly visible and collaborative role that will lead the strategy and execution of the data management system and components critical to powering the enterprise product platform offering a data-centric approach to Ethics, Compliance, ESG & Culture. The Data Architect will assume technical leadership and actively manage the roadmap and prioritization of Ethisphere’s data architecture, tools, and processes to design and deliver innovative and scalable data solutions that enable Ethisphere products, data science, visualization, and reporting. This role will ensure adherence to required levels of data privacy, security, compliance, quality, and governance considerations in the management and utilization of data and achieve cost optimization of the data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy Development: Collaborate with product and technology leadership and stakeholders to develop the data strategy, aligning it with application requirements and business objectives. Identify key data requirements, determine data sources, and design approaches to data integration.
  • Data Modeling and Design: Develop robust data models, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval, system performance, and when applicable, data migration from legacy systems, while maintaining data quality, integrity, and security. 
  • Database Management: Oversee the selection, configuration, and management of databases and data warehousing solutions, including SQL, NoSQL, and distributed databases. Choose appropriate database management systems (DBMS) to ensure data integrity, security, and scalability. Design ETL processes to extract data from various sources, transform it into a usable format, and load it into target databases or data warehouses.
  • Data Integration: Implement data integration pipelines to consolidate data from various sources, including internal systems, 3rd providers, and external APIs. Research new data acquisition sources and integration methods. Design and implement data integration processes to enable seamless flow of information between different systems.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish data governance frameworks and practices, including data quality, data lineage, and access control, to ensure data consistency and compliance with industry regulations. 
  • Security, Compliance & Privacy: Implement robust data security measures and ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, such as SOC2, GDPR / CCPA. Assist with security audit and reporting process. 
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor, audit, and optimize data management system and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. 
  • Knowledge Sharing & Mentoring: Develop and maintain documentation of data architecture and data standards and provide training to relevant teams on best practices. 

 
Requirements:

  • Experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational (e.g., DynamoDB, Mongo DB) database technologies. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and the ability to design data architectures that leverage cloud services. 
  • Proficient in designing and implementing data models and leading data strategy for B2B SaaS products. Knowledge of scalable architectures to handle growing data volumes and user loads. 
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools to integrate data from different sources including 3rd party systems and APIs into the data architecture. Knowledge of middleware technologies that aid in data integration and communication between different systems. 
  • Strong knowledge of data security principles and protocols to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information along with ability to design and implement robust access controls to manage data access permissions. 
  • Ability to design data architectures that adhere to data-related regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR). Knowledge of best practices for data governance and data quality. 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and ensure alignment between business goals and data strategies. Ability to work in a startup, dynamic environment.
  • Strong systems thinking and analytical skills to analyze complex data issues and provide effective solutions. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues efficiently.
  • Strong inclination towards staying updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in data management along with commitment to continuous improvement and optimization of data management system. 
  • Project management proficiency in planning and executing data-related projects including estimating resources, timelines, and managing risks. 
  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. 15 years software engineering experience with at least 10 years’ working with data management systems and architectures.
