Environmental Scientist/Junior Project Manager

Etech is seeking a candidate to support our Lafayette, LA operation assisting with environmental projects, including Phase I ESAs, permitting/planning, field data acquisition, remedial oversight, and other consulting projects.

Responsibilities

· Planning and technical execution for Louisiana and Texas based projects.

· Execution of field tasks, including multimedia sampling in an outdoor setting using various types of sampling equipment (hand shovel, auger, bailers, etc.).

· Performs inspections, assessments, surveys and additional field data collection.

· Conduct Phase I/II/III environmental site assessments and prepare technical reporting documents.

· Prepare multimedia permitting packages, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, and Spill Prevention Countermeasure & Control (SPCC) Plans.

· Wastewater sampling under NPDES program and NetDMR compliance activities.

· Assist Project Managers and field personnel during long-term remediation projects.

· Oversee subcontractors during different means of remediation (Excavation, Drilling, Well Installation, Sampling).

· Operate light and heavy equipment including, but not limited to: pumps, vacuum equipment, pressure washers, generators, bobcats, backhoe, dozer, excavator, etc.

· Record field notes and complete safety documentation daily.

· Assist Project Managers and project team members in the preparation of plans, reports, and technical submittals.

· Coordination with vendors and subcontractors.

· Support planning of field investigation and remediation work while maintaining great communication with Project Managers.

· Assist in data analysis and interpretation of environmental data using various federal and state program guidance.

· Ability to execute multiple projects and tasks concurrently, while adhering to schedule

· QA/QC sampling processes, sample handling/ chain-of-custody documentation to the analytical laboratory

· Ensure field operations are conducted in a safe manner in accordance with Etech and Client specific Site Health and Safety Plans

· Periodic travel with up to 40% of driving and/ or field work supporting projects

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Engineering, or other relevant technical degree program preferred.

· 2-5 years of experience preferred.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

· Experience conducting field-work is a plus and willingness to travel for fieldwork is required. (70% office / 30% travel ratio expected initially).

· Excellent organizational and time management skills to be able to meet deadlines.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively express technical information to multiple audiences including subcontractors, field staff, clients, colleagues.

· Familiarity with Google Earth, Outlook, Word, Excel, ArcGIS, Teams, Adobe PDF a plus.

· Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment is considered an asset.

· Motivated and confident self-starter with the ability to work effectively in both an individual and team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
