ETCADA is Hiring a Prevention Specialist Near Longview, TX

General Description: Responsible for performing all duties/strategies related to YPU and/or YPI program

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate curriculum in schools and /or community sites within the fidelity of the curriculum design
  • Ensure program design, content, communications and materials are culturally, linguistically, and developmentally appropriate to the target population
  • Provide Alcohol, Tobacco, Marijuana and Prescription Drug prevention/education presentations in designated school/community sites
  • Participate in community positive activities as outlined in grant or as needed
  • Travel in service area and work a flexible schedule as required for fulfilling contract requirements
  • Ensure that all grant activities/performance measures are carried out as stated in the approved contract
  • Maintain accurate support documentation for contract reporting
  • Assure timely and accurate submission of all contract reports
  • Arrange for proper procurement of grant-related goods and services
  • Ensure that documentation necessary for expenditure of contract funds is accurate, complete, and submitted on time. (Time sheets, travel report, requisitions, etc.)
  • Must keep work area, storage of work supplies in a neat and organized manner without clutter or excess items in and around the desk area
  • Abides by and is knowledgeable in all ETCADA P&P, HHSC regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Training Requirements:

  • Experience in behavioral science or related field preferred. Commensurate experience may be considered.
  • Complete Evidence-Based Curriculum Training within 60 days of date of hire and every 3 years
  • CPR/First Aid (within 60 days of hire or contract start date)
  • Complete 15-hour Prevention Training within 6 months from date of hire and then 15 hours annually thereafter
  • Possess or obtain Associate Prevention Specialist (APS) cert. within 20 months of hire date. CPS preferred
  • Complete Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) (40-hours, with 6 hours ethics) within 18 months and advanced ethics annually
  • Suicide Prevention Training (one each year)
  • Mental Health First Aid

Characteristics/Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in progressively responsible positions in comparable environment or in substance abuse prevention preferred.
  • Experience in prevention grant program activities and reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work as a team member and with other community professionals.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse Prevention Domains and strategies.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and multi-task a must.
  • Working knowledge of community resources and contacts.
  • Reliable transportation and good driving record.
  • Ability to instruct science-based curricula as assigned.
  • Knowledge of professional standards and ability to perform in a manner consistent with the ethics identified therein.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is primarily performed in a school and or office or community environment. Personal vehicle will be required to travel to and from work locations (mileage reimbursed). Travel in and out of service area (which may require out of town/state overnight or more stays) and work a flexible schedule as required for training requirements.
  • Maintain; clean driving record, criminal record, unrestricted driver’s license, auto insurance, and current vehicle registration / inspection at all times. Immediately reports to supervisor in writing any deviations from the above.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds, bend, stoop, walk and sit for long periods
  • Exposed to weather elements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34,000.00 per year
