Essex Title seeks an experienced, detail-oriented, and professional Title Examiner. S/he must be a Notary Public or must be bondable. Residential and Commercial experience is a must.

This position reads and examines title searches to determine the effect on properties and reviews upper court judgment searches. Therefore, the successful candidate will be an excellent reader and critical thinker. Strong writing and communication skills are needed to prepare reports, commitments, and maps. Collaboration is required with other teams, and thus this position is best filled by a respectful team player with integrity and strong decision-making skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads, examines, prepares foreclosure reports, national reader/examiner for multiple products (e.g., Sales, Refinance, Construction Loans and more).
• Reads and plots legal descriptions on tax maps and/or filed maps.
• Reviews upper court judgment searches and determines if they attach to the property.
• Processes incoming orders and searches upon request
• Reviews industry publications to remain knowledgeable of changes in laws and practices affecting the issuance of title policies.
• Enters data into the title database, generates the necessary documentation, and emails the client.
• Completes the real estate closing process; ensures compliance with real estate contracts, lender instructions, title requirements, company requirements, and other written instructions.
• Collaborates with the escrow team to resolve title issues (e.g., legal descriptions, easements, lot splits, vesting, tax liens, abstracts of judgments, bankruptcies, boundary disputes, encroachments, and list pendants)
• Performs any other duties delegated by management.
• Works with client, partners and county recorders to ensure documents are recorded in a timely manner.

EXPERIENCE:

• Title Closings: 3 years’ experience required.
• Residential Title: 3 years’ experience required.
• Strong knowledge of real estate
• Previous experience working for a Title Agency or Title Company required.

SKILLS:

• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with existing as well as new clients.
• Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment to handle all aspects of title support.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure on both single site transactions and portfolio projects.
• Detailed oriented, with analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with SoftPro an advantage
• Ability to work in an office environment Monday through Friday
