Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School is Hiring a Director of Special Education Near Danvers, MA

Essex North Shore is seeking a dynamic and experienced special education professional as its next Director of Special Education. The Director of Special Education is responsible for the administration of all special education programming, as dictated by state and federal law. The Director of Special Education is also responsible for departmental budget development and management, along with the supervision, evaluation, and direction of Special Education educators. The Director of Special Education is also responsible for Multi-Language Learning (“MLL”) and MLL educators.

Satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS required.

Bilingual preferred.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as Exempt. (Professional)


REPORTING STRUCTURE:

The Director of Special Education reports to the Superintendent-Director or their designee.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed by MA DESE as a Director of Pupil Services or Special Education Administrator.
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with evidence of courses in the areas of administration and/or supervision, special education, psychology, and/or guidance.
  • Five or more years of teaching experience in a special education setting or related field.
  • Working knowledge of legal requirements as it relates to IDEA, Section 504, and Ch 71B.
  • Robust knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Past leadership experience in budget development, budget management, program management, and staff supervision.
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing and management.
  • Experience in community, student, and parent relationship development.
  • Commitment to the inclusion model.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • This is a 12-month position.
  • The nature of this position requires hours beyond the regular school day. It is expected that the person filling this position will give priority to completing the necessary tasks and set hours accordingly.
  • Salary and fringe benefits to be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee.
