Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School is Hiring an Anticipated Multilingual Learning Teacher (2024/2025 School Year) Near Danvers, MA

Essex North Shore is seeking a Multilingual Learning Teacher to support students in both the academic and Career, Technical and Agricultural programs for the 2024-2025 school year. Oral and written fluency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred.

Candidates should be licensed or licensable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Satisfactory CORI, SAFIS, and SORI required.


ANTICIPATED MULTILINGUAL LEARNING TEACHER


REPORTS TO:
Director of Special Education


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students in acquiring English as a Second Language.
  • Work with academic and Career Technical and Agricultural Education teachers to develop strategies to aid in improved literacy for all students.
  • Gather and analyze data to track student progress.
  • Administer a language screener for bilingual students for whom a language barrier is impeding their academic success.
  • Model appropriate English communication for the purpose of developing students’ ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Push into the academic and program classrooms to support teachers in delivering Sheltered Content Instruction.
  • Develop and implement a rigorous curriculum that helps MLL students to build academic and content-area language and vocabulary.
  • Collaborate with teachers in integrating the WIDA English Language Proficiency Standards into content-area instruction and in identifying ways in which students at all levels of English development can be supported in the content areas.
  • Administer screenings for students to determine placement and the ACCESS assessment to measure English Language Development.
  • Works with students of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive manner and maintains appropriate confidential records.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Accepts additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Director of Special Education or their designee.
