Billing Representative

Job Profile Summary
Makes recommendations regarding system changes to improve the Revenue Cycle process and quality and works to assist in the development of training.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Depending upon location, responsibilities may vary and may include a variety of duties of similar scope and responsibility.
Responsibilities :
- Processes paper and electronic claims to payers with full and complete information to satisfy and facilitate the claim for payment.
- Contact insurance companies for verification of claim status and clarification of denials via phone and / or payer portal.
- Work assigned work queues within the patient accounting system and claim scrubber edits prior to final submission.
- Conduct necessary claim appeals to insurance companies, adhering to the appeals process of the assigned insurance company.
- Thoroughly and professionally document all actions taken on patient account in the system.
- Research and communication of payer, HIPAA, or other regulatory changes affecting the billing of health insurance claims and making recommendations regarding billing and system operations to improve payment turnaround.
- Identify and report billing process and systems errors, including coding, date entry, payment posting to the supervisor.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education :
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Qualifications :
1 year of healthcare experience in healthcare billing or revenue services preferred.
