ESPN is Hiring a Managing Producer Near UNKNOWN, CT

The Managing Producer will be responsible for the logistical coordination and element distribution strategy and execution for their assigned show(s), as well as play a role in molding the content relationship with our partners. This position will focus primarily on daytime studio productions. Additional responsibilities may include Digital, YouTube, and Podcast production.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan ahead for major events and content strategies in surround programming across platforms.

  • Will communicate priorities and organize coverage across platforms, working with internal ESPN leaders.

  • Works to help coordinate the coverage of assigned sport and manage the production between external stakeholders and ESPN production.

  • Capable of exercising news judgment and coverage decisions.

  • Travel to event locations.

  • Fully understands the technical process in which content is created and delivered to fans and has the ability to provide guidance and solutions to problems.

  • Regularly pitch studio segments and storylines.

  • Organizes and evaluates the content for assigned ideas; determines the agendas and flow of assigned projects. Manages production resources, assets and staff. Works with other departments in terms of companion content, editorial and resource allocation.

  • Responsible for development and activation of the on-site fan experience surrounding the live production of daytime studio shows.

  • Main production liaison with sport partners.

  • Understands data metrics and how to best use that information to inform content creation.

  • Creates and monitors schedules and budgets to ensure timely, current and cost-effective multimedia productions.

  • Mentors less experienced members of the team. Can effectively manage direct reports and delivers constructive feedback.

  • Identifies and uses emerging technologies for visual media.

  • Can work with talent on content creation, shows and coverage.

  • Interfaces as required with leagues/teams/schools/coaches.

  • Operates within the context of maximizing distribution and revenue opportunities.

  • Work is reviewed by the responsible VP at regular intervals and milestones.

Qualifications:

  • Has a minimum of 6 years of practical multimedia production or related progressively complex experience.

  • Has experience producing a show or events across platforms.

  • Detailed technical knowledge required, must have knowledge effective distribution on all platforms, and what is realistic to accomplish in time allotted.

  • Has an understanding of what resonates culturally and across multiple platforms and channels.

  • Has good production skills related to assigned sport category.

  • Has an established knowledge of sports and leagues related to one’s assignment.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Global understanding of live sports production execution, and the ability to impart that experience and wisdom on others in a positive and constructive way.

  • Knowledge of production and video editing.

  • Ability to work nights, holidays & weekends.

  • Frequent travel required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Is a supervisor with good leadership skills

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, sports management, or social media

The hiring range for this remote position is $106,682 to $164,560 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
