ESP is Hiring a Purchasing Clerk- Commercial Flooring Near Irvine, CA

POSITION TITLE: Purchasing Clerk

PAY STATUS: Non-exempt

SUPERVISES: N/A

PAY RANGE: $25.00/hr

General Responsibilities: As a Purchasing Clerk for our commercial flooring provider and installation company, you will play a crucial role in the procurement process, ensuring that all necessary materials and supplies are acquired in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will work closely with vendors, internal teams, and management to maintain optimal inventory levels, negotiate favorable terms, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our operations.

Significant Duties:

  • Vendor Management:
  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors for commercial flooring materials.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Order Processing:
  • Process purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensure that all orders are placed in accordance with project timelines and specifications.
  • Monitor order status and address any issues that may arise during the procurement process.
  • Inventory Control:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and excesses.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and project teams to optimize inventory turnover.
  • Cost Management:
  • Seek opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality.
  • Compare prices and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.
  • Analyze and report on purchasing trends to management.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that purchased materials meet established standards.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and work with vendors to resolve them.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all purchasing activities.
  • Prepare and submit reports on purchasing and inventory activities as required.
  • Communication:
  • Liaise with internal teams to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors to address inquiries, resolve issues, and track order status.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a purchasing clerk or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with commercial flooring materials and installation processes is advantageous.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in using purchasing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
