The Opportunity (Hybrid)
LA Firm has an immediate opening for a Litigation Support Specialist/Paralegal to join the firm s Litigation Practice Group. This is a hybrid position focusing on providing technical support in all phases of the discovery process, from collection, data processing and ECA to review, searching and production in support of the Firm s litigation practice primarily through the Firm s Relativity environment. Candidates will also be expected to perform traditional litigation paralegal duties as described below.
Job Responsibilities
Perform all technical tasks and assignments in the eDiscovery review and production process. Includes:
  • Create and configure matters in Relativity adding reviewers, custom fields, searches, indexes, imaging, OCR, etc. as needed or assigned.
  • Perform data collection as assigned and download/copy data from client media source.
  • Perform the initial ingestion of data into the ECA tool (Relativity, Nuix, Venio) for pre-processing or first-line review (de-dupe, de-nist, custodian assignment).
  • Import processed or culled data into Relativity, QC import and troubleshoot any technical issues.
  • Run document productions and download/copy finished productions to media deliverables.
  • Provide technical and user support for attorneys and paralegals in Relativity or any discovery application as needed.
  • Coordinate technical tasks with managed services providers as needed.
  • Work with members of the case team to identify and define the technical scope of each matter.
  • Track data processing through the entire matter review lifecycle.
Perform litigation paralegal job duties as needed by the Firm s litigation teams. Includes:
  • Research, gather, and compile data on various legal issues, statutes, rules, precedents, facts, evidence, codes, and contracts for the preparation of cases, legal documents, case authorities, and legal citations.
  • Review and manage the records in an eDiscovery tool.
  • Assist facilitating discovery, including the gathering, processing, and analyzing of evidence (including electronic records) and the preparation of productions in response to discovery requests or subpoenas.
  • Accurately proofread, properly format citations, and utilize the Blue Book and California Style Manual.
  • Draft and/or compile a variety of documents to support attorneys and staff within required timelines and per established procedures and format.
  • Prepare subpoenas, manage, and track all information and processes related to subpoenas.
  • Organize and assist in trial or administrative hearing preparation.
  • Assist in case management including maintain and monitor a calendar for litigation deadlines; prepare timelines, outlines, and other reports using Relativity/Case Dynamics; print and review Compulaw calendar weekly to review matters.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of individuals to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of computer applications including but not limited to: Relativity, Microsoft Applications, and Compulaw, along with databases and other systems used for research such as Lexis or interface with the court system. Possess the ability to learn new computer applications as needed.
Qualifications
  • Direct work experience providing technical support in the eDiscovery review process.
  • Direct experience with Relativity and other e-discovery litigation technologies.
  • Direct experience with law firm tech (document management - iManage), office apps (Microsoft Office 2016, focus on Excel), PDF (Nuance PowerPDF, Adobe), video and audio editing utilities.
  • 3-4 years technical support in a law firm, with a focus on litigation technical support.
  • Highly proactive, solution-oriented, customer-service approach to IT projects and issues.
  • Strong communication, organization and writing skills.
  • Strong sense of situational awareness, accountability and effective independent judgment.
