SUMMARY:

The Shipping Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and timely shipping of goods, overseeing a team to coordinate shipments, maintain inventory levels of shipping materials, and uphold operational standards. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, a keen attention to detail, and a deep understanding of ERP systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise a team of shipping staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Develop and implement shipping procedures and protocols to ensure accurate and timely shipment of all orders, including verification of quantity and proper documentation.
• Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures, promoting a culture of safety awareness among staff members and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
• Continuously evaluate and improve shipping processes, identifying areas for optimization and implementing appropriate solutions.
• Review the Sales Order (SO) Management board daily to coordinate and prioritize shipments.
• Ensure prompt attention to orders requiring special handling or follow-up, including those on hold, WLCL, and TPAR pickups.
• Coordinate daily workload for the shipping team, ensuring efficient allocation of resources throughout the day.
• Respond to card requests on the shipping board promptly and accurately.
• Escalate orders with issues to the appropriate department for resolution.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to address shipping-related inquiries and requests.
• Conduct regular audits of the shipping area to maintain organization and cleanliness.
• Audit the SO Management board to ensure all items marked as ready to ship have appropriate status comments.
• Manage import/export documentation for international orders, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Maintain adequate stock levels of shipping materials such as wood, pallets, boxes, and labels.
• Coordinate with drivers to schedule deliveries and pick-ups efficiently.
• Support a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the shipping department.
• Prepare and process shipments, including loading freight onto vehicles and packaging.
• Quote shipping costs and schedule pick-up times for ready-to-ship orders.
• Communicate and coordinate will-call orders with customers for efficient pick-up.
• Ensure all shipping tools and equipment are operational and well-maintained.
• Ensures all employees are following company policies and procedures; address issues accordingly with collaboration with Human Resources to issue disciplinary action if warranted.
• Abide by all rules and regulations as set forth in the employee handbook.
• Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse and inventory capacity.

· Certification in logistics import/export.

· 1 year of forklift experience (stand up and sit-down forklift).
