ESC of Central Ohio is Hiring a High School Math Teacher- Pre Algebra-Algebra I Near Columbus, OH

Description:
Seeking a licensed full-time math instructor to work with incoming 9th grade students on Pre- Algebra / Algebra I skills. The Math Teacher works in collaboration with fellow Metro teachers to facilitate student learning in a competency-based environment targeting college readiness in Mathematics for 9th through 12th-grade students. The Math Teacher is an expert user of electronic communication and existing and emerging technologies to enrich the educational experience of students and the professional environment of the school.
 
 
Key Responsibilities: Teaching and Advising
 
  • Prepare classroom for class activities
  • Design curriculum and materials for classes taught for student with varying math skills and backgrounds
  • Mange, plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Grade and provide appropriate feedback on work; host office hours.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs
  • Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Help students grow into solid, independent thinking citizens. 
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Participate in an advisory capacity to keep students on track for graduation.
  • Perform duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing encouragement
 
Administrative & Other Duties
  • Assign and grade classwork, homework , tests and assignments
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Maintain class calendar and website
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Work collaboratively with other instructors to maintain a high quality learning environment
 
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Teaching license or the ability to obtain one
  • Knowledge of relevant technology -LMS, Google apps, virtual meeting rooms, PowerSchool, Schoology
 
Work environment
  • This position is within a school setting. Professionalism and discretion are required.
