Position Description
ERT is seeking a Software Developer to support development on the National Water Model (NWM) Team at NOAA's Office of Water Prediction. As a member of the NWM Team, this Software Engineer will design and implement new systems and features, as well as modify and maintain existing systems for adaptation to business and/or technology changes. They should have the ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly, have a consistent track record of delivery, and excellent software engineering skills. They should have strong analytic capability and the ability to create innovative solutions. Those with prior experience on supporting the National Water Model (NWM) are preferred. Additional tasks and capabilities of this person may include:

• Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
• Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
• Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming.
• Improve operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures.

Requirements

A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience leading to:

• Strong analytic capability and the ability to create innovative solutions
• Must be able to work across multiple facets of the project and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time.
• Prior experience on supporting National Water Model capabilities preferred
• Multi-Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP) experience desired
• Web services, API, REST and RPC experience desired.
