Technical Trainer

About this opportunity

To scale our operations and meet the demands of our customers, the Ericsson US 5G Smart Factory is hiring additional Technical Trainers.

The Technical Trainer will help us produce some of the most sophisticated radios and basebands on the planet by training and developing operators;

creating and maintaining training plans and materials; and serving as a key facilitator of functional expertise, cross-functional communication, and safety.

These radios and basebands are the equipment that makes the 5G connection on your phone possible. The chosen candidate must be comfortable with both high-volume, fast-paced operations, and with training others.

Trainers are assigned to work with one of the three functional areas within EFA Operations : Surface Mount Assembly (SMA), Final Assembly (FA), or Warehouse (WH).

What you will do

Train and develop operators

  • Provide specific & general training to operators in assigned functional area (SMA, FA, WH).
  • Train, coach, and mentor operators to enhance capabilities and ensure continuous process improvement.
  • Accelerate time-to-competence for the factory’s operational workforce.
  • Provide ongoing training and development support to ensure a problem-solving mindset is implemented in day-to-day operations.
  • Evaluate learning impact using both knowledge and functional performance assessments.
  • Maintain comprehensive tracking of completed and required training.

Create and maintain training plans and materials

  • Partner with Operations leadership, shift supervisors, Local Process Architects, and production technology and quality engineers to identify training and development needs within functional area specialization.
  • Define readiness targets for critical training that align with business strategy.
  • Develop training plans to ensure operators meet readiness targets and associated business metrics.
  • Develop training solutions in close consultation with supervisors, production technology engineers, quality leads, Operations management, and Learning Experience Designers.
  • Partner with functional area SMEs and process architects to validate skill and expertise of operational employees.
  • Ensure that programs and processes are developed, assessed, communicated, and administered in compliance with industry best practices, including ISO competence management and Ericsson Environmental Health & Occupational Safety standards.
  • Maintain training plans, content accuracy, and reporting through the Learning Management System, such as training schedule, compliance records, online courses, learning paths, and credentials.
  • Coordinate and communicate training schedule with stakeholders, Operations leadership, production planners, and the training team.
  • Maintain training equipment, including training laptops and any tools or equipment specialized for functional area.
  • Serve as voice-of-customer (operator) in the review process for work instructions to ensure controlled documentation supports optimal end user function.

Facilitate expertise, cross-functional communication, and safety

  • Maintain expert knowledge of methods, techniques, parts, tools, and materials used in functional area specialization
  • Drive operator safety and compliance readiness.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and problem-solving between departments to increase simplification, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • When available to do so, provide expert assistance to production teams as needed, though this should not supersede other responsibilities listed above.

  • Ability to periodically work flexible shift hours when required

Ideal Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the functional area where the trainer will train operators.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting with both basic and advanced operator skills.
  • Experience in presenting technical information and skills for functional area specialization.
  • Demonstrated confidence and professionalism working in a high-visibility training role.
  • Experience with environmental and safety compliance, ISO competence management, and training governance requirements a plus.
  • Strong ability to work in cross-functional groups from diverse technical and experience backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with objective-based training theory and functional assessment settings a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, high tech manufacturing environment.
