Your role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Integration Engineer to join our ESSCA team located at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL.

A Senior Project Integration Engineer with expertise in systems engineering and integration is needed to support the Cryogenic Fluid Management (CFM) Portfolio Project Office at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in the Science and Technology Office. This project office manages and integrates a large number of CFM technology development projects for NASA in various life cycle phases.

What you’ll do all day:

This position is an immediate need that will directly support the CFM Portfolio Project Office. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Leverage strong SE&I (integration focus), organization and communication skills to support the planning and execution of project oversight during the entire project life cycle for multiple individual project efforts.
  • Understand and assess responses from contractors to various CFM related activities.
  • Engage individuals from across the agency in coordination and performance of milestone reviews (PDR, CDR etc.).
  • Provide engineering expertise to screening of responses from contractors and milestone reviewers.
  • Provide expert integration of multiple technically based milestone reviews in support of project objective.
  • Work with portfolio leads and project managers in day-to-day integration activities.
  • Coordinate action items related to tipping point contracts.
  • Serve as an advisor on the Project Risk Board and the Project/Engineering Control Board.
  • Support the development and tracking of multiple technical, programmatic, and summary schedules.
  • Compile and develop project status reports as assigned.

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution is required. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 19 years of experience, Masters with at least 23 years of experience, or BS with at least 25 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience related to space technology from development through integration.
  • Thorough understanding of potential issues associated with launch vehicle and spacecraft systems which are relatable to CFM, to include design, fabrication, and test.
  • Experience in utilizing various systems management tools, including Microsoft Project and others.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the capability to represent MSFC’s work related to CFM.
  • Ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on several tasks at one time.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants

Desired skills and experience for this position:

  • Systems Engineering experience on a NASA spacecraft, launch vehicle or science-based project.
  • Technical understanding or experience supporting CFM technologies and systems.
  • Understanding and application of the Technology Readiness Level assessment and progression process.
  • Ability to draw parallels between past experience with the CFM related work.
  • Experience with Project Management principles preferably with NASA NPR 7120.5.
  • A Master’s degree in the relevant field.
