Your role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Specialist located at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, FL. This fulltime position will perform a variety of Business Office functions with a focus on research of new business opportunities in support of the KSC Research and Operational Laboratories. In addition, the Business Development Specialist will assist the Program Management Office with the day-to-day operations in procurement, human resources, and backend processing. Work will primarily be performed onsite at the Kennedy Space Center. Limited telework is available at the discretion of management.

What you’ll do all day:

  • Generates and prepares business development progress reports. Assists with and participates in the development of business strategies and plans. Creates, prepares, and compiles materials for proposals, pitches, and other various business development meetings. Ensures customer data is accurate and up to date.
  • Provides support to Business Office and Purchasing organization to include reconciliation of purchases, completion of expense reports, development of purchasing metrics, and capture and documentation of typical process procedures relating to these tasks. Will train as a backup purchasing agent. May coordinate special purchases to include distributor assignments.
  • Provides general support to Program Management Office to assist with resolution of Human Resource type concerns and track hiring efforts.
  • Coordinates ERC People First Program for the contract.
  • Work on other projects as assigned.

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 7 years of related experience. Master’s degree is equivalent two years of experience. PhD is equivalent four years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Costpoint and Deltek.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to coordinate work between multiple project disciplines.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy.
  • Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
