Position Summary
Supermajority Education Fund is seeking a Temporary State Organizing Associate who will help execute our states-based organizing and mobilization work through December 31, 2024. This role is focused on building continuous political power for women voters in strategic states that Supermajority will invest in for the 2024 election. This includes member-to-member organizing and onboarding, implementation of our digital organizing strategy, execution of grassroots volunteer programs, planning and/or hosting in-person actions like door-to-door canvasses, and providing support and capacity on efforts related overall volunteer recruitment, management, and training. This position reports to the Lead State Program Manager in-state. 

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Relationship building with volunteers
    • Implement a national member to member organizing program in core states by building lists, talking to volunteers, and growing a community of repeat volunteers that are taking action with Supermajority 
    • Provide 1:1 opportunities for volunteer training and mentorship 
    • Assist in facilitating our voter contact programming targeting both issues and elections in our core states 
    • Build relationships with diverse grass-roots leaders, local influencers, and allied organizations, online and in person 
  • Lead Facilitator of Direct Voter Contact efforts 
  • Data management 
    • Meets programmatic goals with quality and authenticity 
    • Accountable for a consistent show rate for our volunteers to events and aiding in the recruitment process
    • Ensure processes are followed to collect meaningful data from our volunteers (i.e. attendance/satisfaction with the event). 
  • Digital organizing & activation 
    • Build out Supermajority’s plan for continued digital activation in our online space with an eye on conversion to offline activations 
    • Consistently provide resources and actions volunteers can take for meaningful change for the Majority Rules
  • Event management 
    • In collaboration with Supermajority’s Strategic Program Team, plan and help lead events (online and in- person) focused on core tactics we use to build continuous grassroots power at Supermajority: deep canvassing, direct voter contact, organizing night school, Majority Leaders, in-person strategy meet ups, values-based mobilization, volunteer recruitment & retention, and leadership development 
The successful candidate must have the following skills and qualities:
  • Commitment to a racial equity: Demonstrated experience and commitment to advancing racial equity. Applies racial equity concepts into work projects and interactions by addressing structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies, activities, and decisions on race, and ensuring those most impacted are at the forefront of solutions to problems.
  • Strong community organizer: Strong ability to build relationships with, coach, mentor, and motivate people. You love community organizing, working directly with volunteers, and doing direct voter contact outreach. You are goal-oriented, self-disciplined, able to meet tight deadlines and multitask, have experience moving folks to take action and centering joy along the way.
  • Quick learner: Comfortable learning new technology for organizing and voter engagement that is critical to program implementation and training. 
  • Flexible and adaptable: Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments with ability to maintain long, and sometimes irregular hours, including occasional nights and weekends. 
  • Strong virtual communication and collaboration: Efficiency and comfort with Slack and Google Suite, responsiveness via email, and willingness to participate in weekly group calls or as needed
  • Willingness to travel: If safe to do so, this position may be asked to travel up to 25% for rapid-response and related state mobilization events. 
The strongest candidates will also have some of the following skills and experience:
  • Familiarity with organizing tools such as VAN/EveryAction, ThruText, Mobilize, Impactive, etc.
  • Experience working/volunteering on a political campaign, organizing in your community, or issue advocacy.
Compensation & Location
  • This position pays $5,833.33 per month, paid semi-monthly (equivalent to a $70K annual salary). We strive to maintain pay equity, therefore, rather than negotiate salaries, we provide transparent, consistent, and competitive salaries for job posting based on job level. To ensure pay equity across all candidates, we will not negotiate this salary amount.
  • Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees accrue 160 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health and caregiver leave, and receive 20 hours of civic leave annually. Employees will also receive 4 floating holidays and 5 days of Inclement Weather and Disaster Leave.
  • This is a full-time, fully-remote, exempt position that is temporary from May 2024 through December 31, 2024.
  • This is a full-time, semi-remote position that must be based in Pennsylvania. 
  • Some Saturday work is required, though you will be able to take Mondays off in return. Overall, you will have strong ownership over your work schedule.
