EpiVax, Inc. is Hiring a Lab Technician Near Providence, RI

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting the execution of scientific research in the laboratory specifically related to the development of vaccines and therapeutic proteins, in addition to maintenance of general laboratory functions. The Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Lab Manager and indirectly to the CSO, COO and Scientific Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize safe laboratory protocols
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Maintain lab in clean and high-functioning condition
  • Prepare specimens and samples, for freezing or immediate use in assays
  • Maintain, calibrate and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, plate washers, pipets and pH meters
  • Prepare buffers and cell culture media using aseptic technique
  • Ensure the laboratory is well-stocked and resourced
  • Wash, Dry and Sterilize Glassware as needed
  • Prepare samples for shipping
  • Enhance laboratory and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
  • Assist others in the lab with day to day experimental activities, as applicable
  • Remain current on relevant scientific and industry techniques

The Laboratory Technician should have a basic understanding and background of current laboratory assays and techniques. The Laboratory Technician should be task oriented, have strong communication skills and be willing to learn new skills. In addition, the Laboratory Technician will have:

  • A strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Typical Laboratory Equipment
  • Chemistry background/ability to calculate solutions
  • Familiarity with aseptic technique for studies in cells and animal models is helpful
  • Proven capability to carry out and follow through with assigned work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Laboratory Technician must also have a current driver’s license

Qualifications

Associates degree in Biology/Biotechnology or related field. 0-3 years of relevant industry/laboratory experience and proven track record of laboratory work as well as knowledge of current scientific techniques are a plus.
