Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Communications Specialist to join our team at Church of the Good Shepherd. As a part-time member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our communication efforts both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and distribute weekly e-newsletters to the congregation using Constant Contact. The newsletter features upcoming events, important announcements, and ongoing updates about the parish community and its ministries.
- Work with the website manager to maintain and update content and interactive forms on the Church of the Good Shepherd website, ensuring information is accurate, engaging, and up-to-date.
- Coordinate the creation and distribution of worship service bulletins with office staff, incorporating relevant information, graphics, and updates from church leadership.
- Implement marketing strategies to promote special events both within the congregation and to the broader community.
- Collaborate closely with a small team to develop communication plans and strategies aimed at effectively promoting the church's mission and activities.
This is a hybrid position. Much of the work can be done remotely. In-person attendance at weekly staff meeting strongly preferred.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in communications, marketing, or related field.
- Proficiency with communication, marketing and project management tools such as Constant Contact, Slack, Canva, SignUp Genius, G-Suite, and Outlook
- Experience managing social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. This includes proficiency in creating and curating content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging content tailored to different audiences.
- Strong time management skills, capable of handling recurring weekly tasks efficiently and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the operations and culture of non-profit organizations, particularly within the context of a church or religious institution.
- Experience with graphic design and/or basic video editing skills.
- Previous experience with producing or maintaining podcasts a plus.
- Pay commensurate with experience.
