Epilepsy Alliance of Florida (EAFLA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing vital assistance to those with healthcare needs in Florida. We currently have funding through the Healthcare.gov Federal Marketplace, a key initiative under the Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), to aid uninsured Floridians in identifying and securing health insurance.For this crucial and deeply fulfilling role, we are seeking compassionate individuals who are not only accomplished but also driven by a genuine commitment to serve the underserved members of our community in need of healthcare coverage. We are specifically looking for candidates who find personal fulfillment in the cause and are passionate about making a positive impact on their community through the provision of healthcare support.As a navigator with EAFLA, you will play a pivotal role in public education, engaging in outreach activities to identify potential consumers, and providing hands-on assistance in the application process. The position offers flexibility in working hours. Availability for some nights and weekends is ideal. While we require navigators to successfully complete the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Certified Navigator course, rest assured that EAFLA will provide all necessary training. Additionally, all navigators are expected to pass a state background check, drug testing and complete license registration.We are hiring both Full Time and Part Time.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with CBOs and FBOs.
  • Provide education on and facilitate the enrollment into a Qualified Health Plan through the Federal Marketplace.
  • Coordinate outreach and education through health fairs etc. to help consumers learn about the Health Insurance Marketplace.
  • Coordinate Health literacy workshops for consumers.
  • Provide in person and virtual assistance.
  • Provide information in a fair and impartial manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.
  • Abide by agency, federal and state policies, procedures, and mandates, including timely project reports and all required data entry.
  • Positively represents the agency at all times.
Qualifications:
  • Must be committed to serving those who are underserved.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must have a strong social-cultural identification or experience working with a diverse population.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Experience with public speaking is a plus.
  • Fluency in additional languages, such as Creole and Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience with health insurance, the Healthcare Marketplace or other enrollment assistance is preferred.
  • Experience working with faith-based organizations (FBO), Community Based Organizations (CBO) or other government-based organizations is preferred.
  • Experience working in a data-driven environment and a proven track record of achieving performance goals is preferred.
