Job Title: Math InstructorDepartment: InstructionReports To: Math DirectorCompensation Range: $64,000 base $16,000 bonus potentialTRS Classification: Classified Summary: We are a unique learning environment that provides a non-traditional educational setting utilizing Internet- based, individualized self-paced instruction provided in nearly any location in Oklahoma. Epic Teachers are remote. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:Work with assigned students to provide math instruction in a virtual learning environmentProvide learning experiences and teach students mathematicsUse technology as an everyday tool for teaching, learning and communicatingDirects the distribution of curriculum to studentsTeach students and their families how to use online math curriculum and supplemental math curriculumProvide consultation and/or technical assistance to students and familiesAdapt math instruction and curriculum to the needs of the studentCommunicate with each student through Zoom, instant message, email, and/or phone on an as needed basisMeet with each student for face to face instruction at a minimum of every three weeks unless otherwise directed by the family.Work to coordinate, schedule, assess and implement appropriate math instruction for each studentConducts assessments of student needsIdentify opportunities for additional math tutoring for assigned studentsCommunicate with parents, in a professional manner, through conferences and other means to discuss the student’s progress and interpret the school program.Perform administrative tasks for day-to-day management including: tracking student math grades, managing schedules and meetings, conferring with the school, while scheduling and monitoring student course progressTranslate math lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.Review math course work for every studentMaintain math grades on the required database for school recordDevelop and follow math related Individual Learning Plans to assist in developing measurable goals for continuous improvement of assigned studentsStay current with relevant research and teaching/learning trends as required to improve academic achievementUnderstand school resourcesMaintain updated math curriculum trainingAnalyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and teaching methodsWork closely with other teachers in the development of lesson plans that encompass the use of technologyFormulate new strategies to ensure that teaching math to Epic Charter School standards is evident throughout the academic school yearReport suspected child abuse/neglectSupervisory Responsibilities: There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's in education or a related field.Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Secondary Education in subjects listed below or subjects or Alternative Teaching Certification as approved by Oklahoma State Department of Education.Elementary EducationMathematics-Middle/Junior High School; Middle Level Mathematics; Intermediate Mathematics; Advanced/Secondary Mathematics.Qualifications:Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sourcesStrong communication skills, both verbal and written.Demonstrated ability to think creatively and demonstrates leadership abilitiesAbility to build effective relationships, work collaboratively and gain credibility quickly to instill confidence of teaching abilityStrong decision making, organizational, planning, analytical and problem solving skills.Use effective positive interpersonal communication skillsResolve issues and conflictsStrong technology skills in up-to-date computer software including Zoom, word processing and spreadsheetsCurrent on new instructional technologiesAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with othersDemonstrates self-discipline and initiativePassionate commitment to the mission of school choiceAbility to maintain professional confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Google applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.
