The Production Supervisor leads, supervises, directs, and coordinates field hourly employees, non-technical exempt employees, and/or contractors engaged in production operations, maintenance, and measurement. This position frequently confers with peers and engineering personnel regarding status of projects and field related problems. The position also carries significant responsibility for knowledge of, adherence to, and execution of proper safety practices to promote and ensure an incident and injury free workplace for their team and others who may be on the property. The scope of the position typically will include the supervision of 4-10 direct reports and direct responsibility for 100-200 wells and their associated facilities.

  1. The Production Supervisor OWNS SAFETY: The successful candidate will spend a great deal of time in field, on the front lines of the work being conducted in his/her area. They will have constant interaction with their Operators (both Company and Contract), coaching, instructing, and mentoring them in how to conduct their work in a safe workmanlike manner. The Production Supervisor will lead by example, having safety conversations with those within and outside of their organization and ensuring safe operations across their area. This will include, but is not limited to, demonstrating proactive measures such as submitting quality HSER Trackers weekly, ensuring quality JSA’s on each job, and exercising Stop Work Responsibility. They will also promote and demonstrate the Verdun commitments to Safe Driving, HELP Keys, Hand Protection, No Shortcuts, and Very Important Processes. They will not only lead by example, but also hold their team members accountable to these same practices and commitments.
  2. The Production Supervisor OWNS PRODUCTION: The successful candidate will understand the many variables that can impact a field’s productivity, be knowledgeable of industry standards and techniques, and bring new and innovative ideas to the table to maximize production volumes and minimize downtime. They will be proficient in monitoring, operating, and optimizing of all types of artificial lift. The Production Supervisor will know the targets for their area and strive to exceed them. He/she will mentor/train/coach their Operators in best practices for optimizing production and hold them accountable to meeting or exceeding targets.
  3. The Production Supervisor OWNS COSTS: The successful candidate will know what is being spent in their area every day and in every category, and he/she will effectively control those costs to deliver the production safely and maintain the integrity of our assets. The Production Supervisor will lead by example and foster a culture within their team of spending every dollar as if it is coming out of their own pocket. The successful candidate will put checks and balances in place to help hold the team accountable to strict cost control and spending every dollar wisely.
  4. The Production Supervisor LEADS the TEAM– Leadership is key to developing and sustaining a WINNING culture. The successful candidate will mentor their team – technically and professionally. They will acknowledge and engage the challenges of this business while seeking out opportunities and celebrating the victories. He/she will develop a strong working understanding of Verdun’s Values, Mission, Vision, Strategy, and Business Approach and align their teams to deliver on each. The Production Supervisor will promote positive morale and a winning team culture through challenging and rewarding work and strong, authentic relationships. He/she will develop best practices within their Team and actively share ideas and information across the organization to multiply the impact of their learnings.
  5. The Production Supervisor ACTS with INTEGRITY- The successful candidate will hold him/herself, their team members, and others inside and outside of our organization to the highest standards of integrity. The Production Supervisor will stand guard with our vendors, contractors, and service providers, as well as internally with Verdun employees to ensure our business is executed in full alignment with our Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Spend 2-4 days per week in the field – Face time with Team: Mentoring, Leading, Ensuring Safety, Aligning on Goals.
  • Lead implementation of Verdun’s HSER policies and hold Team Members accountable – Lead by example, communicate hazards and their mitigation proactively, broadly, and clearly.
  • Lead team to observe facilities, equipment, pipeline ROW throughout their daily rounds. Report and mitigate all spills, leaks, and other needed repairs.
  • Lead team to gauge, sample, and carefully record all pertinent information needed in evaluating production conditions in the field.
  • Lead team to conduct effective well surveillance; monitor, troubleshoot, and correct well issues to maximize production, eliminate downtime, and reduce failures.
  • Interface effectively with Production Engineers: Help bring engineering / theoretical concepts to life by providing hands-on operational and practical knowledge.
  • Request, approve, understand, and support construction activity in assigned area.
  • Request, approve, understand, and support workover operations in assigned area.
  • Ensure servicing and preventative maintenance of equipment and assets in assigned area (pumps, valves, gauges, company vehicles, etc.) is conducted and timely monitoring is performed.
