Job description/responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to, coordination, preparation and submittal of oil and gas regulatory applications and notices of work. Should have the ability to permit special projects with minimal direction/supervision; initiate and coordinate project development requirements with company personnel and outside contractors; and assist with training of less experienced regulatory staff. Responsible for interpreting regulatory rules and rule changes and ensuring that they are communicated to and implemented by operational groups. Must be able to recommend changes to procedures in response to regular updates to regulations and advise operational teams on compliance issues. Essential focus will be on communication with local, state and federal regulatory agencies on pre-submission strategies, compliance requirements or clarifications, and follow-up of submissions under review. Core duties include daily interaction with regulatory agencies to obtain appropriate approvals and provide necessary information to the same agencies to comply with the regulatory requirements of all associated projects. Some travel to regulatory agency offices in NM and TX required.

Requirements:

  • 5 years' experience in oil/gas regulatory permitting.
  • Thorough knowledge of current state, federal, and local laws, rules and regulations related to upstream oil and gas operations. Preference given to candidates with regulatory experience working on federal lands in New Mexico.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - must be able to effectively communicate deliverables and interact with all levels of the organization, from upper management to field groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, other operational groups, and regulatory officials.
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer and database skills.
  • Preference given to candidates with bachelor's degree, but degree not required. High school diploma or GED required.

Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
