Responsibilities:

Envisions Radiology Service Line has a national footprint providing onsite and teleradiology services totaling 8 million reads a year delivered by approximately 600 radiologists. We own and utilize our proprietary PACS platform to leverage an AI enabled, distributed teleradiology platform.

The Senior Vice President (SVP), Regional Chief Clinical Officer for Teleradiology provides management support of operational and clinical aspects of assigned service line clinical operations. The SVP is a Physician / Board Certified Radiologist who shares the responsibility for divisional oversight of profit, loss and delivery of services for assigned contracts. to the fulfillment of contracts with client hospitals. The SVP shall report to the Chief Clinical Officer of the Service Line. The SVP will establish working relationships with the Operating Unit Directors and VPs of Operations, and the Directors/VPs of Client Solutions of Envision Physician Services in their respective areas. The SVP will work closely with Regional Medical Directors, Site Medical Directors, clinical providers and hospital administrative teams at the sites of their responsibility.

This role is 80% administrative and 20% clinical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The essential function is to be accountable for profitability of specific hospital/system contracts within the Service Line/Operating Unit, client retention and price adjustment of Service Line/Operating Unit contracts.
  • The evaluation and optimization of provider compensation and hours of coverage at their sites.
  • Serves as an active participant in the development of new business within the Service Line/Operating Unit.
  • Interacts with the respective Director/Manager of Finance who has responsibility for conducting financial analysis as it relates to assigned clients.
  • Provides input and assist with preparation on annual operation budget, goals and objectives.
  • Will participate in Strategic Planning goals as they relate to the Service Line/Operating Unit and their facilities.
  • Will assist the Medical Directors in the following areas: improving departmental efficiency; creating a professional atmosphere conducive to a high standard of patient care; investigating patient complaints and incident reports; and interaction with the Chiefs of Service of the Medical Staffs.
  • If applicable, the SVP shall assist the Directors of Client Solutions and the Nursing Leadership of the respective Service Lines to develop high standards of patient care; to coordinate work flow within Operating Rooms and other ancillary departments; and to assist in the in-service training of department personnel, as requested.
  • Start Up Responsibilities : To ensure that new contracts are established as smoothly as possible, the SVP assigned to the start-up of a contract shall be responsible for the duties as outlined. Until a Medical Director can be identified and on site, the SVP will also interview the staff physicians and Medical Director Candidates. The assigned SVP, or his designee, will be responsible for the orientation of the new Medical Director and/or new physicians of assigned clients. The assigned SVP will analyze existing policies and make recommendations for appropriateness of policies on transfer agreements, laboratory and operating room protocols, and other clinical protocols affecting the delivery of services.
  • Quality Improvement Activities: The SVP shall serve as an advisor to the Medical Directors as they assist in any applicable quality Improvement Activities relating to the patient care.
  • Administrative Functions: The SVP shall assist the hospital Medical Directors in evaluating the problems with physicians contracting with companies under management agreements with Envision Physician Services. The SVP shall counsel physicians and on-site Medical Directors as necessary regarding problem areas. The SVP shall work with the VP of Operations and the Billing Services in the evaluation of the professional fee structure, evaluation, and enforcement of Envision Physician Services administrative policies and procedures. This shall also include training physicians on appropriate documentation. The SVP shall assist the Service Line/Operating Unit in the recruitment of Medical Directors and physicians. This assistance may include interviewing, evaluating, and performing general recruitment activities. The SVP shall work with the Service Lin/Operating Unit and Directors and VPs of Operations, and Directors and VPs of Client Solutions (if applicable) of Envision Physician Services to develop service plans for each contract. This shall include identification of problems and the development of a problem-solving plan.
  • Risk Management Activities: The SVP will be responsible for working with risk management resources to develop or refine and implement the Risk Management Program for Envision Physician Services client hospitals.
  • Departmental Activities: The SVP will assist the site Medical Directors in evaluating the quality of medical activities of client Service Lines in accordance with prescribed community standards, JCAHO and state requirements, and administrative policies of the hospitals. Specifically:
    • Maintaining an effective working relationship with the Medical Directors, physicians, medical staff, hospital administration, and hospital departments/services.
    • Advising on documentation for ongoing reviews of the quality and appropriateness of services rendered as required by any quality improvement program.
    • Assisting in review of written Service Lines policies and procedures that affect the medical care of patient.
    • Assisting in defining levels of care requirements to ensure that patients receive such care from the professional with the appropriate level of expertise.
    • Reviewing as needed, in a timely manner, documentation of any and all incidents which could lead to litigation; including, but not limited to, patient and/or attending medical staff dissatisfaction; and providing follow up as appropriate.
    • Assisting in development and execution of service plans.
    • Attend and participate in monthly departmental meetings, as appropriate
    • Assist, as requested, in the preparation for all accreditation and licensure inspections.
    • Assist the Administrator of the hospitals in appropriate matters.
    • Consult on expansion or modification of existing plant and/or equipment.
    • Consult on interdepartmental flow of records and forms.
    • Review hospital formulary used in the Service Lines, as requested.
    • Consult and assist Medical Directors in preparation of periodic and annual reports.
    • Provide physician recruiting assistance and orientation.
    • Evaluate and recommend physician and Physician Assistant scheduling to correspond to patient load.
    • Participate in Risk Management consultation and analysis with appropriate Envision Physician Services administrative personnel and Medical Directors.
    • Assist in development of materials for use by Medical Directors.
    • Assist Medical Directors to ensure that their department meets its defined objectives for improvement, growth, and expansion of services.
Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Physician, MD or DO Medical License and Board Certified Radiologist
  • At least 5 years of Clinical practice in teleradiology
  • Leadership experience in teleradiology
  • At least 10 years experience in physician practice management or healthcare management with extensive physician interface at a multi-site level
  • Able to travel 20%
