Envases Commerce, LLC is Hiring a Production Decorator Technician Near Waco, TX

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Decorator Technician is responsible for the setup, adjustment and maintenance of coater decorator and all relative equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Providing support in operations as a Production Decorator Technician which can include duties such as:

  • Responsibility of maintaining activities of the printer/decorator beverage cans with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage.
  • Ability to operate, safe operation, and the maintenance of decorator equipment.
  • Make changeovers or conversions by setting up assigned equipment for change in material, size or product.
  • Operate, repair, clean, lubricate equipment, as required, to maintain production.
  • Clear jams.
  • Check varnishes, coatings, inks, lubricants, supplies, and add or change materials. Request or obtain additional quantities of supplies.
  • Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications using appropriate gauges and instruments and record data.
  • Check, test, and measure products for quality specifications. Examine for visual defects.
  • Replace worn or damaged parts.
  • Communicates all pertinent information between the supervisor, quality control, departments, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information.
  • Assists and trains and/or coaching of all new operators as needed or required.
  • Applies skills, methods to improve plant production.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action.
  • Notify supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
  • Operate equipment and assist as directed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Required – High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Preferred – 2-3 years’ experience in equipment maintenance, prefer equipment maintenance in a manufacturing operation
  • Preferred – 2 years’ experience in the Beverage Packaging Industry
  • Preferred – 2-3 year(s) in setup/operating/adjusting printing decorators in a manufacturing environment
  • Preferred – Ink toning knowledge
  • Preferred – experience overhauling maintenance operations with extensive troubleshooting skills

GENERAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Aptitude in spatial reasoning, attention to detail, and skilled craftsmanship
  • Formalized mechanical training, skilled in hand and power tool usage
  • Operate compressors, sandblasters, spray equipment, and other small power equipment
  • Ability to utilize power tools and hand tools as well as heavy equipment; Use hand tools like power tools and rigging equipment daily; calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges
  • Use of precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematics
  • A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines
  • Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities through both process improvements and system improvements
  • Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
  • Preference will be given to qualified local candidates

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing software

Daily contact with other departmental personnel. Occasionally works in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, around chemicals and chemical fumes/emissions, dusty & clean environments. Frequently works with electrical and mechanical hazards. When working with surplus and scrap materials, will frequently be required to work outside and/or in an unaired conditioned warehouse. Continuous use of vision, hearing and speech. Frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional bending. Will lift, carry, pull / push, and reach for supplies and on occasion lifting (up to 50 lbs.) while performing various aspects of the job; Will need to climb stairs, climb ladders, lift and move objects, requires manual dexterity and repetitive use of keyboard/computer devices/power tools/machining equipment; Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

HOURS / SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

12 hour rotating shifts 4 days on and 4 days off; Rotating shifts requires working night shifts; Present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; Schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which may include long days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
