The AmeriCorps VISTA position is a full-time 12-month paid volunteer assignment based in Compton, CA. Under the supervision of the Presidient of The National Directors Council.
About the Organization: The National Directors Council of the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network is a body elected by peer YouthBuild directors who influence the direction of the movement by taking initiative to create new projects, advising YouthBuild USA on matters affecting local programs, and advocating for public resources and policies for opportunity youth.
YouthBuild is an educational, workforce, and leadership development program for young people ages 16 to 24 that live in economically distressed neighborhoods. Young people learn leadership, advocacy and workforce readiness skills, while they earn an accredited high school diploma or equivalency and gain industry recognized certifications. YouthBuild programs in the United States, young people work together to reclaim their education, gain job skills, and become leaders in their communities.
The YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network is comprised of approximately 165 YouthBuild programs across the United States who are committed to the YouthBuild program model and philosophy by implementing and enhancing its design and performance standards and maintaining a strong YouthBuild movement in partnership with YouthBuild USA and each other
Member Duties: The VISTA will build capacity for National Directors Council of the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network by deepening the impact and sustainability of the NDC. This will include updating and revision of the Governing Rules of the YouthBuild USA Affiliated Network (National Directors Council) to ensure they reflect current structure and practices of the Council. The VISTA will do this by researching and evaluating data, developing systems to identify opportunities to better support YouthBuild programs, and enhance events to strengthen connections and sharing among YouthBuild leaders.

PLEASE NOTE: The AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America’s (VISTA) mission is to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty through volunteering and the mobilization of resources. AmeriCorps VISTA members build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities. You will not be working directly with participants.
