The AV Technician will provide Convention Center clients with excellent audio visual service, and be representative of LMG’s Vision for the Convention Center internal departments as well as all visiting guests.

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work from flow sheets, work orders, equipment orders, verifications, and other similar documentation.
  • Check telephone messages and email to determine requirement or changes to schedules based on communications from client, event coordinators, or others. Communicate changes to supervision for determination of action to be taken or take required action and report on results as required.
  • Review flow sheets and determine requirements. Work independently, as part of a team, or as a team leader as required. Communicate requirements and assignments to contract labor, as team leader when required.
  • Locate, pull, and move equipment to assigned area, unloading trucks as required. Set up equipment. Check diagrams and observe event area and establish proper placement of equipment, determining optimal locations to ensure proper operation and performance of equipment. Communicate with clients, event coordinators, or others regarding problems with location setup.
  • Build screens and tables, place and set up projection equipment and other audio visual equipment. Wire equipment as required for proper operation. Set up video equipment making required adjustments to suit source requirements and to ensure maximum picture quality including sizing, focus, and operation of remote control units. Set up audio elements of equipment such as microphones and speakers and ensure proper wiring, equalizing, and placement for optimal quality of sound and overall performance.
  • Test operation of equipment and make any required adjustments to suit client requirements. Troubleshoot setups and sightlines, diagnose and adjust controls to alleviate video, data projection, audio, radio frequency, and basic electrical and lighting problems. Tape down wires to ensure safety precautions.
  • Set stage drape and sets as required and directed. Assist with basic aerial rigging of lights or other equipment under direction of others.
  • Record details of setup and notify supervisor of any unusual equipment or operating problems. Remove and secure specified equipment for overnight storage and replace and reset equipment for continuation of event as required.
  • Communicate with client to review equipment substitutions, scripts, quotes for additional equipment or labor, collect payment, and other similar issues. Operate equipment during the course of event as required. Turn equipment on, operate computers, switch equipment, operate and control microphones and stage lights as required.
  • Strike equipment in accordance with schedules. Break down and pack equipment ensuring that all components are accounted for. Follow procedures to ensure that all equipment is returned to defined storage location. Assist to load trucks with equipment returning to warehouse. Record strike data and report unusual equipment or operating problems to supervisor.
  • Perform routine repairs including the replacement of minor elements. Take physical inventory of equipment and account for items as assigned. Notify supervision of inventory discrepancies. Clean equipment and ensure proper placement in defined storage locations. Maintain current awareness of new equipment functions and operation.

Base Salary Range: $19.75/hr - $29.27/hr This represents the low and high end of the company's base salary range for this position. Actual base salary range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
