GroundMaintenance maintains ground of industrial, commercial or public property suchas buildings, camp and picnic grounds parks, playground, greenhouses, andathletic fields, and repairs structures and equipment. Cut grass, using walking-type or ridingmowers(less than 2000 lbs.),Trim hedges and edges around walks, flowerbeds,and wells, using hedge trimmers, clippers and edging tools,Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improvegrowth, using shears and other hand tools, sprays lawn, shrubs and trees withfertilizer or insecticidePlants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, wateringlawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activating sprinkler systemPick up and burns or carts away leaves, paper orother litter; removing snow from walks, driveways roads, or parking lots, usingshovel and snow blower, spreads salt on walkways and other areas,Repairing and painting fences, gates, benchestables, guardrails and outbuildings.ThisWorker assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment,and may clean comfort stations, offices workshop areas, and parking lots bysweeping, washing, mopping and polishing.Knowledge of machines and tools, including theirdesigns, use, repair, and maintenance.Watchinggauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.Ability tocommunicate both orally and writing with internal and external clients andco-workers.Determiningthe kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.Must be asteady, reliable worker.Able to readsimple instruction and follow simple diagrams.Able toperform simple tasks independently after being giving specific instructionsGeneral knowledgeof simple equipment used in the landscaping and grounds maintenance trades.Knowledge ofacceptable maintenance services including occupational safety and healthregulationsMust be ableto determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to complete each taskassignment.
