Entek is currently seeking an entry level field technician for environmental consulting that primarily focuses on items related to health and safety . The duties of a field technician primarily includes assisting project managers and the team as a whole with completing field based inspections that include, but are not limited to: hazardous materials surveys (such as asbestos and lead), air monitoring, exposure assessments , other environmental surveys, and responding to emergency water intrusions or other releases of hazardous materials.

Field technicians will report to project managers and will assist the project in anyway they can. The variety of duties is vast and range from collecting bulk samples of potentially hazardous materials to collecting air samples necessary to determine for re-occupancy, to providing risk based assessments for our clients. Field technicians will be providing services at a variety of locations on-site that are mostly found in the greater Sacramento area, with there being some out-of-town work that is necessary. The Entek team does their best to keep out-of-town work to a minimum and look to share the burden if the projects requires multiple weeks of being out of town. The overall idea is to visit the different project sites to provide inspections or collect samples, communicate with the project team, and return to the office for supplies or to write reports.

Field technicians are also required to draft technical reports, write professional emails to clients, and must be able to communicate well internally (both written and verbal).

The most important aspects that a field technician will need to be able to be successful at Entek include: 1) Putting others needs before their own, 2) The sense of urgency to provide these services in a timely manner, and 3) Striving for excellence by working daily to become more knowledgeable in this field.

We ask that any entry level technicians strive to gain certifications that are paid for by the company in areas such as asbestos, lead, safety, and industrial hygiene. Field technicians will be learning from our internal staff who are made of personnel who hold various licenses including Certified Asbestos Consultants, Lead Inspector/Assessors, Certified Safety Professionals, and Certified Industrial Hygienists.

A lot of our staff that find their time at Entek successful sometimes have a combination of a STEM degree, occupational health and safety degree, experience with hazardous materials abatement, and or a passion for public health.
