Drilling Maintenance Internship 2024Job DescriptionEnsign Energy is a Drilling Company in the petroleum industry seeking highly motivated and skilled Electrical, Mechanical, and Petroleum Engineering juniors, seniors, and graduate students to join our Drilling Solutions Department for a paid summer internship. As an intern, in addition to gaining valuable oil & gas experience, you will be assigned a real-life project that will challenge your technical and problem-solving skills. The specific project will be worthy of being a real-life IADC/AADE/SPE technical paper that can be presented. Successful completion of the project assigned during the internship will contribute to Ensign’s continued success of being a global leader in the Drilling segment of the industry. This is a great Summer 2024 internship for the ideal candidate.Specific Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesResponsibilities:While assigned to a project work with key stakeholders such as Drilling Maintenance Technicians, Drilling Superintendents, Drilling Crew, Well Operator representatives, etc., to gather requirements and feedback on the assigned project.Works in a safe, healthy, and environmentally protective mannerMaintains, Troubleshoots and Repairs electrical equipment/systems onsiteMaintains, Troubleshoots and Repairs hydraulic equipment/systems onsiteMaintains, Troubleshoots and Repairs mechanical equipment/systems onsiteReports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazardsObserve, assists and performs tasks as instructed by the Maintenance Supervisor and rig customersParticipates in and promotes all company safety programs, processes, and requirementsAttends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locationsPerforms other duties as directed by managementDemonstrates willingness and availability to work long hours and weekends, when requested, on short noticeWorks as a Team Member with the rest of the Maintenance Group with the goal of minimizing Rig downtime, and optimizing rig systems performanceInspects Rig equipment to identify and remedy potential issues before they lead to downtime or more costly repairsTrains and instructs Rig Crews on Maintenance tasksAssists in the training and instruction/skill development of more junior Maintenance TechniciansQualificationsQualifications:Currently enrolled in an accredited Electrical or Mechanical Engineering program with 1-2 summers left before graduation, or a graduate student pursuing a Masters in the same fields.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Self-motivated and eager to learn.Ability to work with great amounts of dataExperience with statistics to identify trendsAbility to work outside on drilling rig sitesOther Accountabilities:Business Ethics – Understands fully Ensign’s ethics policy and its application in all business dealings including contractual agreements and contract negotiationsBusiness Policies - Understands and agrees to follow all of Ensign’s Policy and Directives and procedures as set forth in the Ensign Company Policy and Basic Directives Handbook for EmployeesCertifications – Maintains technical and safety certifications required by company or government agencies; remains current on all OSHA, EUSD and other required trainingDrug-free workplace - Conforms to a drug-free workplace, not be under the influence of mind-altering prescription or non-prescription drugs, including alcohol and other drugs of abuse.Occupational Health and Safety – Understands fully the Ensign Health and Safety policy and self-responsibility for own health and safety at work; Demonstrates responsibility to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omissionUses the correct protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipmentReports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minorAvoids injury resulting from manual handling tasks, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniqueThis is a hybrid work environment where you will work both remotely and in office environments, with some time spent in the field as well.
