Job Description The Manager, Safety and Facilities leads the Facilities and Maintenance Teams and directs the objectives, while aligning tasks with company policies and procedures. Leads and oversees a wide range of services, maintenance, and activities in relation to manufacturing and office space. Provides activities to establish, implement, communicate and train internal/external customers in safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements and company Policies. This position is located in Simsbury, CT and will report to the Director of Operations. Responsibilities: Responsible for designing health and safety procedures, investigating accidents and examining equipment to correct potential hazards. Identify, develop, and maintain company health and safety management systems, training programs, and procedures in line with all current legislation for the assigned country(s) Perform monthly safety inspections and maintenance. Represent the company at external audits on all health and safety matters. Ensure compliance to audit standards and work with auditors and vendors to answer findings and complaints in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. Design and develop written health and safety procedures. Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements. Provide technical safety and health support and information to all employees. Analysis of risk assessment, near miss and accident data to presenting to the senior management team Develop data driven long term strategies to reduce accidents and partner with operational team to improve the working environment by recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards. Investigate accidents to include gathering all documentation in line with company policies, compiling all documentation relating to any insurance claims made against the company, and liaising with insurance companies, solicitors, and other related organizations in pursuit of insurance claims. Responsible for safety training program to reduce workplace accidents ensuring all newly hired employees, agency employees, contractors, visitors and transferred employees receive proper training. Establish and organize site compliance training in order to meet quality system regulatory requirements. Represent the company at any internal safety meetings, customer or supplier safety meetings presenting data, recording actions, and monitoring the progress of those actions Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance. Review plans and specifications for development of new machinery, equipment, or processes to determine whether all safety requirements have been met. Lead the efforts managing quality systems related to safety and facilities to meet ISO certification. Facilitate operations related to environmental health and safety initiatives necessary to demonstrate compliance with EPA and OSHA requirements. Conduct audits against document compliance standard operating procedures, developing and providing detail reports as well as remediation/monitoring plans. Manage Facilities group responsible for building maintenance. Manage custodial functions for all buildings. Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly. Manages and reviews service contracts and verify completed work by vendors and contractors. Communicates workplace safety precautions to employees. Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management. Requirements: Bachelor of Science required in a related field At least 5 years in an EHS compliance role Demonstrated broad knowledge of environmental regulations such as hazardous waste, PCBs, air permitting and stormwater Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks with minimum supervision and complete projects and daily duties in a timely manner Strong computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc Ability to learn new software Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to develop and work within a team environment Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and other regulations as they apply to hazardous waste TSDF operations Preferred Skills: Extensive experience in manufacturing facilities management and a successful track record with leading employees Extended expertise in the fields of industrial electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, compressed gas systems, fabrication and carpentry Proficient in recognizing and solving complex and challenging problems from established operating procedures and/or scientific methods Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and Maintenance Management Software This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
