Job Title: Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer - Robotics

Location: Somerville, Massachusetts

Hybrid - 3 days a week onsite

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Embedded Software Engineer to join our robotics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software for our advanced robotic systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and software developers to deliver high-quality, reliable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate and optimize system performance.
  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement software algorithms for control, navigation, and sensor integration.
  • Perform debugging and troubleshooting to resolve software issues.
  • Optimize software for performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Document software designs, code, and test results thoroughly.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in embedded systems and robotics technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in the robotics industry.
  • Proficiency in C/C programming languages.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
  • Strong understanding of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and embedded system design.
  • Experience with hardware-software integration and debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with robotics frameworks and libraries (e.g., ROS).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with sensor integration and data processing (e.g., LIDAR, cameras, IMUs).
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their implementation on embedded platforms.
  • Understanding of control theory and experience with control systems development.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
