Engineering Systems Inc is Hiring a Communications Intern Near Norcross, GA

About this Role

We are seeking a Communications Intern to create and develop written and multimedia content, both internally and externally, to promote ESi's brand, activities, consultants, capabilities, and culture. Your role involves crafting communication/marketing plans and overseeing end-to-end execution including content development, design, stakeholder review, and internal distribution. You'll proactively cultivate relationships with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts across geographies and disciplines, collaborating closely with our Business Development team to develop marketing campaigns that enhance our public image.

As a communications intern, you'll gain hands-on experience in technical communication, marketing, and public relations. You will have the opportunity to create a multitude of written and digital communication materials and contribute to ESi's larger communication and social media strategies by analyzing internal and external engagement metrics and learning to adapt messages to be suitable for various platforms. The ideal candidate will be expected to collaborate with subject matter experts, maintain brand consistency, and adapt their communication style to the appropriate project.

You will be presented with a research project that must be completed by the end of the Internship and is expected to require approximately 40 hours of effort. The research topic shall be mutually agreed upon between the intern and supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to social media strategy by creating and scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Develop effective communication materials tailored to both internal and external audiences across different platforms that are consistent with ESi's brand and culture.
  • Develop, revise, and execute the creation of communication plans, tools, templates, and deliverables that will support communication and marketing initiatives. Content deliverables may include but are not limited to social media updates, intranet articles, press releases, case studies, proposals, presentations, videos (script writing), and onboarding/recruiting materials.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts across geographies and disciplines to develop tailored marketing and communication campaigns that positively promote ESi's internal and external messaging.

Required Work Hours

  • Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8 am-5 pm).
  • This position is in person in our Norcross location. Remote work is not available, but in-office hours are flexible.
  • If you are also enrolled in college - we require that you take no more than 2 classes during your employment semester with ESi and can work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

Skills Required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Strong knowledge of AP style (writing samples required) and writing best practices.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to both give and receive constructive feedback during the revision process of key deliverables.
  • Ability to create a variety of communication materials consistent with ESi's brand and culture with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interest in technical communication with an ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts in engineering, technology, and business development.

Skills Preferred

  • Previous experience in basic website development (HTML/CSS) or working with a content management system (CMS).
  • Intermediate graphic design skills, preferably in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with SEO techniques and social media platforms.
  • Previous experience with technical writing, technical communication, or a strong aptitude to learn.

Education Requirement

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Must have completed at least Freshman year and be within good academic standing.

Experience Preferred

  • Any relevant experience in communication, marketing, technical writing/communication, social media or content management, or website development is preferred
