Engage Healthcare is Hiring a Smoking Monitor Near Baltimore, MD

Position Title: Smoking Monitor

Summary: Carroll Park Healthcare: is looking for an assertive, relaible, yet compassionate individual to aid in resident smoking breaks. The Smoking Monitor assist in escorting residents to and from designated smoking areas. Monitor residents while they smoke, ensuring safety and adherence to the facility’s smoking policies. Ensure that all smoking rules are followed, such as smoking only in designated areas and proper disposal of cigarette butts. Watch for any immediate health issues among residents during smoking sessions, especially respiratory issues. Maintain logs of smoking sessions and report any incidents or issues to relevant staff.  Supervise visitations as needed, ensuring that interactions comply with facility policies and provide support to residents and visitors. Must be comfortable working in varied temperatures and exposure to allergens such as smoking.

Duties may include, but not limited to:

Planning and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.

Implementing activities that accommodate those with special needs.

Handling logistics to make the event possible, such as making phone calls, advertising, managing inventory and budgets, training and motivating volunteers or employees, and coordinating transportation.

Observing participants at events gauge their enjoyment and obtain their feedback to improve events.

Keeping records regarding event planning resources, participant interest, and other notable information, such as injuries or behavioral incidents.

Reporting medical concerns or observations.

Ensuring that events are well-provisioned, the event staff is trained and prepared, and that the event takes place on time and within budget.

Providing participants with instructions for the event.

Adhering to and enforcing all safety procedures.

Requirements: 

High school diploma and certain certifications may be required.

More education or experience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related may be preferred.

Job training and first-aid and CPR training may be necessary.

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Physical fitness, ability to walk, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.

Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.

Excellent resource management, computer, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.

Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.

Flexibility to work when needed, especially evenings, weekends, or early mornings.

Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements: Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet. (Not a complete list)

Preferred Skills: Experience in a long-term care setting preferred, but not required.
