Senior Energy Engineer

Jackson, Michigan

This position has a home-based office in Michigan. Up to 50% local travel is required. A local candidate is preferred.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in mechanical or energy engineering.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience working specifically in on-site energy efficiency opportunity identification.
  • Knowledge of:

* Conducting ASHRAE II AND III energy assessments.

* Working on-site with commercial and industrial customers.

* Familiarity with energy-using systems in commercial and industrial facilities including, but not limited to:

heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment

lighting systems and controls

compressors and compressed air distribution systems

chillers and supporting processed chilled water distribution equipment

boilers and supporting processed hot water or steam distribution equipment

* Performing energy and economic analyses

* Designing and commissioning building systems

* Writing reports and delivering presentations to personnel in multiple tiers of management and presentations.

* Expertise in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Advanced certifications/licenses including, but not limited to, Professional Engineer and Certified Energy Manager.

Day-to-Day

You will join a team dedicated to helping commercial and industrial customers reduce their energy use by providing technical expertise through energy efficiency programs, training initiatives, and direct-to-customer services. Some of the day-to-day activities you would be involved with might include:

  • Conducting single-day or multiple-day on-site comprehensive energy efficiency assessments of industrial or commercial facilities to identify energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Providing technical assistance on energy-efficient technologies and practices to participants in utility-sponsored programs.
  • Conducting on-site inspections to verify the installation and operation of energy efficiency projects.
  • Performing energy and economic analyses.
  • Reviewing energy assessments, opportunities, and calculations.
  • Preparing reports and delivering presentations.
  • Supporting the development of marketing and outreach strategies to increase awareness of and inspire action for energy efficiency.
