Energy Sciences is Hiring a Metal Fabricator (1pm-930pm shift - train on 1st shift) Near Wilmington, MA

I. Job Objective

Perform a variety of lead forming, cutting, and burning operations on mechanical components. Performs a variety of cleaning, preparing, and painting operations on mechanical components. Determines method and sequence of operations where complete information is not readily available. Performs duties according to engineering documents, sketches and / or directions. Utilizes hand and power tools, brakes, shears, band saws, torches and lifting equipment. Receives direction and work schedules from the Lead Shop Team Leader and performs duties under minimal supervision.

II. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities (identify basic, technical goals).

· Cut, form, and burn lead to a variety of mechanical components.

· Understand and follow engineering drawings and / or instructions of moderate complexity to complete lead forming operations correctly and efficiently.

· Perform such operations as cutting, burning, and forming of lead, as required.

· Operate hand and power tools, shears, brakes, and band saws, as required.

· Perform other varied mechanical assembly tasks, as required with minimal supervision.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lead fabrication. safety procedures and ISO 9001 initiatives.

· Manage multiple projects simultaneously, often fluctuating workload; prioritize projects, time management.

· Perform duties with minimal supervision.

· Operate Industrial spray-painting equipment.

· Perform such functions as cleaning, sanding, masking, filling, as required.

· Mix paints, reducers, catalysts, and primers as required.

· Perform varied handling, lifting, and fixturing tasks as required.

· Apply smooth or textured paint finishes, as required.

· Maintain and clean paint booth.

· Maintain paint supplies / inventory.

· Occasional travel to support customers.

Miscellaneous

· Actively look for new ways to perform work to yield improved efficiencies and reduced expenses.

· Maintain professional image and appearance on phone/in person.

· Maintain internal and external customer service focus.

· Work with other teams to ensure cross-company documentation is current and accurate.

· Participate with other staff to cross train and perform other functions, ensure back up, schedules, and deadlines are successfully met.

· Recognize and resolve problem situations, refer to supervisor, when necessary

· Perform other duties and special projects, as needed, to ensure high standards of service.

· Responsible for all tasks and functions relative to achieving corporate goals & objectives.

· Work in a safe and healthy manner, observing all safety and health regulations.

· Maintain clean, neat work environment and facilities.

· Attend meetings, on time, as required.

III. Experience/Qualifications/Requirements

· 2-5 years’ experience in welding, soldering large objects, using cutting tools, masking work areas, use of heavy equipment lifts, sheet metal fabrication, and/or plumbing.

· Experience in auto body shop ideal.

· Valid driver’s license and passport with no restrictions for international travel.

· Vocational or high school courses in welding, blueprint reading, sheet metal and soldering.

· Positive attitude, highly self-motivated, self-starter, and strong work ethic, desire to learn and be part of a strong team environment, work at maximum efficient and quality.

· Keeps customers' needs at the forefront.

· Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of lead fabrication and safety procedures.

· Effective communication skills, verbal and written, must be articulate, confident, use effective interpersonal and negotiation skills, when necessary.

· Analytical – must be able to understand concepts to translate work demands, limitations and options w/attention to details.

· Enthusiastic, versatile, and flexible, adapts to changing environment, projects, departments.

Vocational or high school courses in welding, blueprint reading, sheet metal and soldering.

VIII. Working Conditions, Physical & Mental Demands

· Lead shop mfg. environment, high temperatures, face masks, “over garments”, requires manual dexterity, agility, standing, bending, stooping, often for prolonged period, strength with ability to lift to approximately 50 lbs., lifting aids available.

· Fast-paced, possibly stressful, demanding schedule, often working on several projects simultaneously. May require long hours to meet critical deadlines and project delivery dates, often with fluctuating workloads, high volume projects, overtime, possibly with minimal or no advanced notice.

· Mfg. environment (in house/customer site) requiring standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting equipment (up to approximately 50 lbs.), lift assistance is available. May require working in awkward/confined space, awkward body positioning. Use of safety apparatus may be required for certain functions, including safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, protective clothing/gear, face masks, respirators, etc.

· Uniforms (ESI shirts) are worn in all manufacturing areas and at customer sites.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
