Job Title: Lab Technician 1 - Aquatic Toxicology Lab

Position Type: Non-Exempt

Location: Billings, MT

With over 70 years of experience, we provide analytical services to a diverse range of clients including the extractions industry, municipalities, state and federal government agencies, and the private sector. We're currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Lab Technician in our Aquatic Toxicology lab.

Job Description:

As a Lab Technician in our Aquatic Toxicology lab, you will play a vital role in conducting Whole Effluent Toxicity Testing (WET) using organisms such as the Fathead Minnow, Ceriodaphnia dubia, and Daphnia magna. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Culturing and maintenance of test organisms
  • Receiving samples and preparing them for testing
  • Test setup, daily monitoring, and test completion
  • Data interpretation and reporting
  • NPDES Permits management
  • Test scheduling and client communication
  • Operating laboratory equipment and LIMS program
  • Adhering to strict lab protocols and quality assurance standards
  • Collaborating effectively with team members
  • Potentially serving as a backup analyst for other analyses

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology preferred but not required
  • Experience in a laboratory setting is a plus
  • Aptitude to operate laboratory equipment and computer systems
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills for client interactions
  • Dependable and self-motivated
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays

Benefits:

  • Competitive starting pay of $18.00-19.00/hr (depending on experience/education) with potential for wage growth based on performance
