About the Role

Note: This position will be based out of our manufacturing facility in Detroit, MI and requires in-person presence there. 

Endless West is a dynamic and innovative company in the alcohol and spirits industry. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of traditional beverage production, utilizing cutting-edge technology to create unique and exceptional products. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated Junior Food Scientist to join our team and contribute to the refinement, optimization, and development of our existing alcoholic beverages, spirits, and ready-to-drink (RTD) products.

Responsibilities:

1. Product Optimization:
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and evaluate the quality of existing products, identifying areas for improvement and development/optimization.
   • Propose and implement adjustments to meet desired sensory profiles and ensure consistency.
2. Sensory Analysis:
   • Conduct sensory evaluations to assess flavor, aroma, and overall product quality.
   • Learn and apply sensory analysis techniques to provide valuable insights for product improvement.
3. Process Scale-up:
   • Work closely with the production team to learn and refine manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality.
   • Implement adjustments to enhance product stability, shelf life, and overall performance.
4. Ingredient Selection and Modification:
   • Assist in evaluating and modifying existing formulations to achieve desired product attributes and general KPIs
   • Collaborate with suppliers to explore new or modified ingredients that align with product goals.
5. Quality Assurance:
   • Learn quality control processes and work with QC manager as necessary to ensure the consistency and safety of existing products.
   • Support the resolution of any quality issues that may arise during production.
6. Regulatory Compliance:
   • Work with the team to ensure all existing products meet legal and safety standards.
   • Support interactions with regulatory agencies to maintain necessary approvals and certifications.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
• Some experience in product development or food science is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong interest in food and beverage industry, with a focus on product optimization and refinement.
• Basic knowledge of food chemistry, flavor science, and formulation.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
