Overview

The Program Manager, Powerplant is responsible for monitoring costs associated with aircraft engine repairs and associated expendable/consumable usage. Interfaces with internal and external entities along with Tech Ops leadership to identify and recommend strategies for optimizing and reducing costs for engine repairs and expendable/consumable usage.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and reports on performance against plan for cycle-time, collect and track engine process data and supervise process trends.
  • Monitor on wing engine performance metrics to establish removal priorities and strategic planning for tasks coming due (Borescope Inspections, Life Limited Parts, Water Washes etc.)
  • Plan and coordinate engine removals with maintenance stations and planning department.
  • Develop effective strategies for engine repair prioritization to obtain optimal fleet reliability while maintaining a focus on costs.
  • Review, track, and analyze aircraft engine work scopes and subsequent vendor quotes to identify opportunities for reducing costs.
  • Participate in divisional financial performance reviews and budget planning sessions to provide information and analysis on trends and projects.
  • Facilitates routine interfacing among key internal Tech Ops collaborators, Delta Connection, and engine vendors.
  • Monitor and forecast engine spares and coordinate Quick Engine Change (typically referred to as the QEC kit for engine build up / tear down) requirements.
  • Participate in vendor contract negotiations related to engine spend.
  • Provide training or presentations to internal and external customers communicating engine cost drivers, recommendations, and specific knowledge related to repairs.
  • Identify critical success factors for your function and establish priorities based on those factors.

Qualifications

  • Technical Degree in Aircraft Maintenance, or a combination of equivalent education and related experience.
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant License (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience required; to include experience in aircraft line maintenance, aircraft maintenance planning, technical resource planning, project management, and financial justification.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex material and concepts at all levels within the organization to include interpersonal skills and focus on problem resolution required.
  • Familiarization with the use of technical manuals, Federal Regulations, and Company policies & procedures (preferred)
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively to meet given time parameters.
  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office software, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, advanced Excel spreadsheet experience required. Data Queries and Data Models experience (preferred).

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work is performed primarily in an office and/or line maintenance environment.
  • Frequent repetitive motion such as typing.
  • May involve prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
