A day in the life of a Veterinary Technician Assistant

In this assisting role, you assist our veterinarians and technicians in the treatment and examination of our animal patients. Each shift, you are determined to provide the highest quality of care. Your initial interaction includes obtaining patient history and performing an evaluation of the animal’s condition. Your calming personality comes in handy as you restrain animals as needed for examination, perform treatments, and administer medications or vaccines. Your attention to detail and organizational skills help you keep accurate records as you document patient files and case histories. Using your empathetic demeanor, you address all client questions and educate the client accordingly. You always encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and sincere concern when communicating with pet owners as you review the veterinarian’s plan and check out the client.

Veterinary Technician Assistant Qualifications

• Relevant experience and education
• Excellent communication skills
• Two years or more in any veterinary setting
• Comfortably able to handle and restrain animals
• Can lift up to 40 lbs unassisted
• Available to work 11-hour shifts and available at least one weekend day.
