Pharmacy TechnicianHere is your opportunity to channel the full extent of your knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience on a daily basis. Inspire our patients to progress each day as you:
Provides inventory control including maintenance in the pharmacy according to the drug formulary.
Maintains formulary, including ordering, receiving, storage and all necessary paperwork.
Replaces medication including dispense machine refill (24-hour supply), using unit-dose system.
Replaces floor stock items on a routine basis according to policy including narcotic inventory.
Maintains necessary paperwork for the pharmacy's reporting and tracking.
Tracks documentation in support of the Pharmacy's financial reporting system, Quality Assurance Plan, and the control of narcotics and other controlled substances.
Files and maintains records pertaining to med cart, compounding log, drug inspection, expired med disposition, drug recalls,
and technician activity when Pharmacist is out of the hospital.
Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital codes.
Demonstrates proper body mechanics and safety precautions in performing job responsibilities.
Reports unsafe condition and defective equipment immediately.
Reviews pharmacy profiles and collection of drugs dispensed to patients for accurate billing.
Reconciles narcotic including monitoring of doses administered according to medication.
Manages Administration Record in the narcotics sign-out file.
Ensures floor stock (medication and IV's) are maintained at appropriate par levels.
Ensures emergency boxes are maintained in accordance with pharmacy policy.
Maintains and completes pharmacy inspection manual.
Transfers pharmacy charges to the business office.
Maintains a clean and uncluttered pharmacy area including work area, sink, and counter tops.
Prioritizes orders on basis of drug schedule or necessity, and delivers STAT orders promptly.
Enters and fills all orders for verification by pharmacist.
Conducts daily rounds to check emergency drug box and med dispense machines.
Observes emergency drug box and med dispense machine compliance with state rules and regulations.
Handles all pharmaceutical generated protected health information.
Operates in a manner consistent with the privacy rule as outlined in HIPAA.
Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.
Meets position requirements and performs essential functions.
Completes mandatory training and courses required by completion date.
Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment immediately.
Credentials:Certification and Registration as a Pharmacy Technician as required by the state
Minimum Qualifications:Minimum 1 year experience in a pharmacy preferred.
General medical terminology is preferred.
Machines, Equipment Used:General office equipment such as computer/laptop, telephone, copy/fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc.
Microsoft Office software, to include Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Physical Requirements:Visual acuity, speech recognition, speech clarity.
Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds including medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements.
Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking.
Ability to reach, stoop, bend, kneel and crouch.
Skills and Abilities:Oral communication, written communication, fluency in English, active listening.
Information ordering, deductive reasoning, social perceptiveness, time management, critical thinking.
Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.
Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
Environmental Conditions:Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure.
Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
Handicapped accessible.
May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:Has regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Adheres to dress code including wearing ID badge.
Adheres to Standards of Business Conduct.
May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e., before, during or after a disaster.
May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
