Peer Recovery Specialist-Community Response
Encompass Community Supports, formerly known as Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services (RRCS) is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist-Community Response to work in our Culpeper office. Position Information:
Type – Full Time, Non-exempt, Essential Staff
Location – Mobile Position, Madison, Orange, Rappahannock, Fauquier, and Culpeper Counties
Work Schedule – Shift Work: Currently 3pm to 11pm. On-Call, Holidays, and Weekend Availability needed.
Peer Recovery Specialist – Community Response
The Peer Recovery Specialist in the Co-Response Programs works with local Law Enforcement Agencies and/or behavioral health professionals to respond to calls in the community that involve individuals experiencing Behavioral Health emergencies.
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Peer Recovery Specialists and Family Support Partners provide non-clinical, person-centered, strengths based, wellness focused, and trauma-informed support while helping to ensure the person’s recovery, resiliency, and wellness plan reveals the needs and preferences of the person being served to complete their measurable and personalized goals. Peer Recovery Specialists serve adults with behavioral health challenges. Family Support Partners serve parent peers and family members who provide support to parents and children who experience behavioral health challenges. Work is performed under regular supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required –
High School diploma or equivalent; One year of personal experience living in recovery with a mental health/substance use challenge or the family member of an individual with one year living in recovery with a mental health/substance use challenge.
Preferred-
Successful completion of a DBHDS approved peer recovery specialist training program and/or Virginia Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and/or Certified WRAP (Wellness and Recovery Action Plan) facilitator and/or certified SMART (Self-Management and Recovery Training) Recovery facilitator.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Passing a Criminal Justice Information Services Background Check is a requirement for this position. Valid Virginia driver’s license; attends training and maintains certifications as required by the Agency and regulatory guidelines. Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training expected.
