Position Overview

Hiring Immediately!

The Memory Care Director is responsible for developing and executing an approach to Memory Care utilizing all program components to maximize quality Resident care. They oversee the day to day operation of the unit and are responsible for recruiting, training, coaching, counseling and directing the staff in the Memory Care setting in accordance with company policy and procedures and Best Friends practices as well as current federal, state, and local regulations and standards. This position establishes and implements policies, procedures and practices, develops staffing plans, reports and budgets, develops the functional schedule, oversees Individual service plans, monitors documentation compliance and coordinates the functional schedule and activity plan. The Manager works in concert with other departments, outside agencies, Families and physicians to ensure coordinated Resident care delivery. The ultimate goal of quality Resident care is to enable each Resident, where possible, to return to the highest level of functioning, to attain a new stage of independence, or to at least prevent regression. Resident care is not passive maintenance; an active approach will always be taken.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
2. Plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of the department in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines including the Best Friends Approach to care as well as policy, procedures and practices. Assure activities are effectively planned in functional schedule and carried out by staff in appropriate manner. Promote philosophy that everything is an activity.
3. Administer Employee Policies and Procedures. Develop, maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures and job descriptions. Orient staff as required, train on policies and procedures and Best Friends Approach.
4. Schedule staff, supervises employee effectiveness, observe skills and interactions and coach for improved performance. Conduct regular evaluations as required.
5. Develop departmental budget and staffing plan.
6. Make reports and recommendations to the Executive Director and to the Administrator as necessary or required concerning the operation of the Memory Care setting.
7. Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing Quality Assurance program and provide appropriate plans of action to correct any identified deficiencies. Maintains an active fall prevention and hydration program.
8. Take initiative to actively plan, develop, and implement expansion and/or innovation in program services. Update staff in regards to new program requirements or initiatives.
9. Actively communicate and work with Families and Residents of Memory Care to update on issues and when appropriate to assist in safe, respectful and appropriate transitions to other care settings, as necessary. Meet with staff and evaluate feedback to ensure safety and appropriate level of care.
10. Develop methods for coordination of the Memory Care department’s services with other Resident services, to ensure the continuity of the Residents' total regimen of care.
11. Oversee surveys and inspections made by government agencies as well as internal QA or regulatory or risk audits.
12. Complete appropriate forms, reports, evaluations, and studies. Monitor and maintains documentation compliance in all areas to include MAR’s, incidents, Resident clinical information, QA, Safety and required reports.
13. Assist in Resident care as needed. Model behavior and interventions with staff.
14. Develop and attend in-service classes, Best Friends meetings and staff meetings. Orient new employees. Lead and coach certified nursing assistants to improve performance. Provide other departments with input on Best Friends Approach to care.
15. Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of the Discover Your Spark Lifestyle and Wellness philosophy and its inherent core values. Support and participate in Discover Your Spark (e.g. assist with feedback groups, assist in new initiatives, encourage Residents and act as champions of fun).
16. Perform other duties as assigned and as outlined in policies and procedures and disaster and fire plan.

  • Combination of education and/or experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, with major work in related field.
  • 1 Year Experience in Memory Care Required
  • CPR

Pay: $64,000.00 - $66,000.00 per year
