EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Orlando, FL. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Preparing and identifying a variety of environmental samples for fungal structures using optical and phase contrast microscopy. (We do not test clinical samples).Preparation and Identification of Bacterial Samples.Record data in a specified manner
Sample preparation and pH Adjustments and water activity testing
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment
Perform quality assurance/quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Additional duties include approving final reports following quality control and client interactions
May be required to cross train in other areas of the laboratory to meet business demands
Clerical duties as assigned: log-in data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phonesRequirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Life Science a plus Some environmental microbiology lab experience is a plus, but not required
Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, or other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plus
Ability to multi-task and adhere to requirements of the Quality Management System
Good communication and interpersonal skills are required
Attention to detail and follow standard laboratory practices regarding quality control, laboratory equipment use and maintenance and documentation procedures
Understand custody client confidentiality
Must be able to distinguish between colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet client deadlines
