EMSL is Hiring a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) Near St. Louis, MO

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in St. Louis, MO. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control proceduresDetermination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos materialRecord data in a specified mannerSome clerical work may be involved including login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phonesMaintain and troubleshoot equipment when neededPerform autoclave dutiesPerform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manualRequirements:Minimum requirement High School Diploma or equivalentAssociates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry a plusLight microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plusSome laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plusOne to two years of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM experience is a plus, but not required Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysisWork independently and with a teamWork in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignmentsGood communication, computer, typing, and organizational skillsAvailable Shift:Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account
