EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst II (TEM) in San Leandro, CA. This role will be hands on using a transmission electron microscope (TEM) to analyze a variety of environmental samples. The ideal candidate will have at least three years experience using TEM.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Analyzing air, rock, soil and bulk materials for mineral fibers
Identification of samples by-
Transmission Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive spectrometry an electron diffraction patterns. Tests include: AHERA, NOB, 6480, 5755, and 100.2
PCM analysis- air sample analysis
Perform quality control practices per company quality assurance/quality control manual
Record data in a specified manner
Assist with clerical and lab duties as needed, such as data entry, sample review and maintenance/calibration of laboratory instrumentation/equipment
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry
Three to Five years working with TEM and experience identifying asbestos and non-asbestos minerals
Optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plus
One to two years of asbestos PLM/PCM experience is preferred but not required
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills
Must be willing to travel for training
Available Shift:
Tuesday to Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
